Days flew by in the most beautiful way. How can the feeling be described? I suppose that words cannot do it justice.

I felt like I was flying. Free and happy. Traveling up the highway and taking random exits. It felt like it would never end. And maybe it never would.

I swerved onto a random exit the next night just as the sun was beginning to set. I pulled into the first parking lot I saw. It was a local store that was currently closed, it was adorable, roses planted in the front and a cute welcome sign.

You wanna know what I did next?  I climbed on the roof of my Jeep and watched the sun set. Then I was off to find my adventure for the night.

Wowie wow wow. This town is real fucking boring, like no busy bars, no rock climbing places, no mountains or rivers. It suckssssssss. (More than I used to on the weekends)

I settle on Waffle House. It's a nicer Waffle House I guess. Not completely falling apart, but when I went in only three people were inside, excluding the workers.

It was an old couple. A man who had a veteran cap and a big smile, holding hands with an old woman with a wheelchair. They looked so in love, that I could feel my mouth turn into a huge smile.

The other person was a guy, who if I had to guess was a college student, judging by the closed laptop and coffee he had in front of him. Young and wavy brown hair, and to top off all his good looks he was scowling like his puppy just died.

You know that feeling you get before you talk to someone knew? That moment all antisocial people know well. The whole "Fuck this shit I'm out" that just runs through your head. Well I felt that in this exact moment. And yet, my feet shuffled towards him anyway.

My mouth opened anyway and words tumbled out, "Hey. This seat taken?"

He looked up and I wish I could describe his eyes. They were just a regular brown. But they had a story behind them. He frowned a little at me,  "I'm a bit busy and there are plenty of other seats in here."

"Busy doing what?"

His frown got a bit bigger, "Avoiding people."

"That sounds lonely."

He said, "Why are you talking to me?" But his eyes were definitely saying, "Oh please random, very kind and attractive stranger, please save me from my boredom and loneliness!"

"Because I want to. So, can I sit?"

Suddenly the frown disappeared, as did any other expressions, "Sure. Free country."

And so we sat. Uncomfortably staring at each other and not talking at all.

The waitress finally came up and interrupted the awkward silence, "Hello ma'am, what would you like to drink."

"A coffee."

I looked at the college boy again, "So what are you doing at a Waffle House alone so late on a Friday night?"

He sighed, like my mother used to if I bothered he while she was on her phone. "My girlfriend broke up with me, unfortunately she's also my dorm mate, so I came here."

" Oh! I'm sorry. That sucks ass."

"Yeah. It does."
