What started out as a normal mission turned into a nightmare.

They were headed towards south of a Nebula star system where they could help a small colony of aliens that had been attacked by the Galra and were in need of assistance.

It was only a few hours of handing out supplies that things started to go wrong.

A noise had come from the nearby forest, alerting Keith since he was the closest. After handing out a box of food he pulled his Bayard, it glowed, turned into a sword.

"Hey guys. I heard a noise come from the forest nearby, I'm gonna check it out." He said through the com.

Lance on the other hand didn't like that idea, not just because of his Alpha instincts but because he had a bad feeling. But no one listened to his protests as Pidge, Shiro and him followed behind. They spread out and backed Keith up on Shiro's orders.

Keith ran in, hiding behind trees and keeping a watchful eye out. He had to be cautious since there was no telling what that noice came from, but it was big.

Leaves rustled and he froze.

"Keith, what do you see?" Shiro said over the coms.

"I don't know, but I heard movement." He replied.

"Alright, proceed with caution. Lance, Pidge provide back up." Shiro commanded.

"Right," Pidge said.

Lance grumbled, he had a bad feeling about all of this, even if Keith was a good fighter and he has proved that countless times. He was still an omega. It was just his instincts were going haywire and anxiety was clawing at his stomach.

Keith slowly crept out from behind the tree, sword at the ready. He waited with baited breath as a rustling crawled around him.

A roar sounded behind him, he whipped around only to be pinned down by a beast. His helmet flew off landing some distance away. Keith looked up only to be met with glowing eyes and a mouth full of teeth. It snarled in his face as claws digged deeper into his flesh. One of its feet were pinning his ankle down in an awkward position and it hurt. He cried out. He was too far away for anyone to hear him.

Lance felt Keith's distress and rushed in, completely ignoring Shiro's call to stay put. Those fell short when Pidge followed after him but not as fast.

Keith struggled to get the beast off of him. Trying to kick himself free with little effort. A slimy tongue dragged itself across his cheek sending disgusting shivers down his spin. He finally knew what this creature wanted.

A meal.

He started kicking harder, shouting louder, anything to get this monster off of him. He feared for his life. He was going to be eaten alive by this thing. Tears began to bead in his eyes as the monster opened its jaws and without warning--

A gun blasted, hitting the beast.

More shots fired hitting the target in the face and arm. The monster scampered away.

Keith sat up slowly and turned to see Lance standing there, panting with his blaster raised. Lance raced to his side, wrapping his arms around him and holding him close.

Pidge and Shiro arrived, Bayard and glowing hand at the ready.

"Are you crazy!" Lance exclaimed, pulling away from Keith. "You don't know what's out here and you go head first into battle like an idiot. You could have been killed! And you almost were!"

Keith just stared.

"Lance calm down," Shiro stepped towards them. But Lance growled, sending Shiro a deadly glare. He held his hands up in surrender and stopped. "Let's just take a deep breath."

"I'm picking up a heat signature in the distance, we can follow it." Pidge said to ease the tension.

"OK, Lance take Keith back to the ship and have Coran look over him. Pidge and I will go after what attacked him. Are we clear?"

"Understood," Lance grunted. He helped Keith get to his feet, and the other two ran off into the forest. He grabbed Keith's helmet and gave it to him before they set off.

Keith could feel Lance's anger coming off him, even if he could feel his emotions through there connection it was fierce. It made him feel bad, like he messed up and didn't know how to fix it.

It hurt.

Lance looked behind him. He noticed Keith limping a little. Sighing he stopped and turned to face him.

"By the time we make it back it'll be dark," he walked towards him , picking Keith up bridal style. "It'll be quicker if I carry you."

"O-ok," Keith rested his head on Lance's shoulder. His eyes closed and he relaxed into Lance's hold.

"Ouch!" Keith snapped as Coran dabbed some anti-bactriea stuff on his cuts and gashes. Thankfully his armour had protected him from getting any mayor claw wounds but his ankle was bruised pretty badly. Lance had left to go get them something to eat.

"Well I did say it'll hurt." Coran chided as he wrapped another bandage around Keith's arm. "Your just lucky Lance turned up in time, you could have been eaten alive." He finished up.

Keith stared at the ground forlorn. "Yeah, lucky."

The sarcastic tone was evident in his voice. Coran just shook his head and began cleaning up as Keith made his way out of the med Bay and towards his room.

He couldn't believe he almost cried today. Despite how stereotypical it was for omega to act submissive and emotional. He wasn't one of them, he was stubborn and impulsive and tried to keep his emotions in check, there were moments where he would let his feelings out. It was stupid.

He laid down on his bed, his ankle hurt like hell from walking around.

A knock sounded at his door, "can I come in?"

Lance.

"Yeah!" He called backed.

The door opened and Lance walked in holding two plates of food goo. He gifted Keith one and he sat on the bed. They both began eating.

The silence was thick. It was hard to eat, neither of them looked at each other. Keith mostly played with his food, still thinking about the events that happened and how Lance got angry at him.

Lance sighed, "Look, I'm sorry I got angry at you, I was just worried and my instincts have been acting up lately. I'm sorry."

It'd felt like weight had been lifted from his shoulders. Keith blinked, "It's fine. Thank you."

Lance smiled, "cool." He turned back to his food. The tension had eased and they breathed easy.

I finally managed to get past the part I've been stuck on and I'm glad it turned out ok.
