Diana's POV

"That was the dumbest thing I have done in my life, even for you."

"Quiet down Matt! You're gonna wake her up."

I peeled my eyes slowly, making contact with two baby blue irises staring at me blankly. I screamed, causing Xavier to back up and Matt to run out of the room. Wait a minute, Xavier?

"What the hell am I doing here?" I asked in all seriousness, backing away from my kidnappers.

"Diana, please let me explain."

I shook my head before letting out a loud scoff.

"Explain what? That you kidnapped me?"

He raised his hands, waving them as a way to calm me down.

"Diana, the very first time I met you, I instantly fell for you. The way you laugh or even the way your beauty shines in the sun. You are meant for me and I want to be with you."

My eyebrows raised in shock, mouth gaped.

"No, it can't happen. I'm mated with Luca."

I shook my head, thinking about Luca.

"There is no such thing as mates Diana, he's lying to you."

I shook my head again in denial, crossing my arms and legs.

"You're wrong."

He laughed, holding my hands in his while I gulped.

Xavier moved closer to me, bringing his lips closer to mine. I sucked in a breath trying to move back.

"I'm sorry Xavier, but I like Luca."

His lips touched the tip of my nose, lingering the kiss longer than expected.

"Soon you will love me, that's a promise."

The hairs on the back of my neck rose to cause me to shiver. He stood up from the bed, making his way to the door.

"Don't make promises you can't keep."

I slapped my mouth shut, watching him stop walking. He turned his head to me, showing me his face.

"I never do."

With that, the door slammed shut making me shake. I pulled my knees up to my chest, hiding my face. Was this all a lie?

Was there no such thing as mates? My thoughts consumed me before I heard the door open again.

"Hey, sweetheart."

It was Matt.

"What the hell do you want?"

I saw something in his hands. It was a plate with pizza on it. My stomach rumbled loudly, making my face flush. I gave Matt a sheepish smile, rolling my eyes.

"Sorry," I mumbled.

"Don't worry about it." The bed sunk next to me, indicating that he took a seat next to me. He handed me the plate before laying down, getting comfortable.

I looked down at the pizza cautiously before bringing it to my lips and taking a bite. In the corner of my eye, I saw Matt watching my every move. There was an awkward silence between us.

"Why did you leave?" Matt asked, hurt in his voice.

I swallowed my pizza hard, putting the leftover on the plate.

"I was scared," I replied bluntly.

He scoffed and sat up, getting closer to me.

"It seems like you're not scared anymore. It kind of sucks you chose Alpha Luca over Alpha Xavier, he's cruel and ruthless."
