A Week Later

It's been a week since the weirdness with the pack and pulling Seth out of the dining room. After that night everything really calmed down. I really haven't seen Seth since then though. Sam said he had a bunch of school work to do and was balancing it between patrol.

So in other words he wasn't coming around for a while.

It really made me sad to hear that, a lot more sad then I expected. I guess I was sad because that meant I wouldn't be getting an answer anytime soon about what happened the other night.

I just want to know what happened, you know? This cute boy just zones out in front of you and you have no idea why. Does he have a zoning out problem? If he did, then why is everyone so happy about everything? It just doesn't make sense.

I shook my head trying to get out of my thoughts. I needed to focus on the anatomy homework I was doing. It was a basic study guide and Embry was coming over later to study together, so I had to make sure it was right.

Feeling Maverick right next to my ribs breathing equaling mine made me smile.

"Hey Mav," His head perked up to my voice. "Wanna go play Frisbee?"

He was on his feet faster then the speed of light, running over to his basket with his toys in it. He dug through the basket to find the specifics toys he wanted, as I pulled on my tennis shoes and sweater to go play with him.

"Let's go buddy!" I smiled at him, as I opened the door to the hallway.

He bolted out the door and down the stairs with the frisbee's hanging out his mouth. I laughed my way down the stairs.

"You're too funny maverick," I cracked. " We are going to play frisbee out back Em!"

I heard a distant, "Okay! Be careful!"

"Let's go Mav!" And with that we were out the back sliding door and out in the back yard.

Him and I played Frisbee for about fifteen minutes before a few members of the pack showed up. At that fifteen minute mark, Embry joined me outside. Maverick was all sorts of excitement that his best friend was there to play with him.

"Hey Embry!" I hugged him.

"Hey Niah!" He hugged back. Over this past week he and I became very good friends. He was always the one who was constantly there. It made me feel really good to have a friend to be there for me.

"Hey Mad Man!" He grabbed the frisbee from Maverick and threw it across the yard for him.

"How've you felt today?" He turned to me sincerely.

"Really good actually!" I honestly replied. "Since moving here and meeting the pack, I don't know why exactly, but it has made me feel better. Like a lot better."

"That's really good!" He smiled ear to ear, taking the frisbee from Maverick. He threw it again a little farther this time for him.

"Hey Embry, what is going on with Seth?" I questioned quietly.

"You know he has to answer that, Niah. It's a personal thing." He looked at me with sad eyes. "Believe me I want to tell you, but it's not my place to tell you. You will understand when he tells you."

I sighed shoving my hands in my jean pockets, "But Embry, when will that be?"

"Soon, I promise. Now why don't we go study for that anatomy test?" He gave me that smile of his.

I rolled my eyes at him and nodded. "Let's go Maverick!"

He was rolling on his frisbee, like the dork he was. When he heard his voice he popped his head up and looked at me as if to give me attitude.
