I don't really know who's going to see this, but I just had to address something.
I'm pretty sure most people heard about the 17 year old girl who was so cruely treated. If you haven't, know that she was a strong, courageous girl who was trying to seek justice against some sick bastard that raped her. The problem here is not that, the problem is how the court "investigated" the case. Instead of standing with that extremely brave girl and helping her punish her rapist, they humiliated her and embarrassed her in front of everyone. They claimed that it was necessary to investigate the type of underwear that she was wearing on that incident. In other words, they were putting the blame on her, indicating that she "asked for it". This type of behaviour should NOT be accepted from ANYONE, especially from a supposedly "respectable" lawyer.
This girls feelings and rights were not violated once, but twice. The first time by that bastard who assaulted her, and the other time, by a female lawyer who's not any better.
What kind of message does this give to other victims? That they shouldn't speak up from fear of being embarrassed and humiliated? The idea is absurd really.
For whoever reading this and to any person who's gone through such pain. You're alive for a reason. You're proving to yourself and to everyone else around you that you're strong, and will continue to be so, just by being alive. Don't EVER be afraid to speak up and always remember that everyone will get what they deserve sooner or later. Most important thing to remember is that it's NEVER the victim's fault. Each and every individual has the right to dress the way they want, whenever they want, without fearing for their safety.
To end this long, but hopefully meaningful rant, RIP to that young 17 year old who ended up taking her life due to the insensitive and inhumane way she was treated with.
