A gentleman

I was sitting alone,
In a cafe unknown,
Reading a book,
To keep my mind off the hook.

When you came and sat across me,
Brown eyes and unkempt hair,
Reading the same book unaware,
We laughed as our eyes met over the book we shared

I didn't know you'd be the one,
A gentleman so fun,
With wit and a comic tone,
With a heart full of support and love
I didn't know we would share the same interests
From our order to the books indifferent.

So as you opened the door for me
I imagined opening a door for us
Exchanging the numbers,
With a grin a little too happy
For I didn't know someone could get me so well
For I didn't know someone could be such a gentleman.
