Summer's POV
"Let's race, you grab a cart and I'll grab one." My eyes widened at his whacky suggestion immediately saying the first logical thing that came to mind, which happened to be the negative idea of the situation even if it was such a tempting idea that I almost couldn't turn it down. He shook his head at me, "I know the people here, and in fact it's one of my dad's buildings." He jumped into a cart leaving me behind thinking about the owner of the building, he owned pretty much the entire estate that I lived in, he was that rich and didn't even go to the rich kid school? Huh... Maybe he didn't like money, not that I blame him it definitely came with perks but also downsides to those snobby kids that go around school thinking that they are better than everyone because they have more money.
I quickly jumped into a cart trying my best to follow him, I even went as far as to grab one of the paddles that was leant up against a kayak that was on sale, I pushed my way past a load of people while he raced ahead of me purely going on the speed of the cart, I easily caught up with him passing him swiftly while he called after me asking how we were going to stop, I hadn't thought about that but as I saw a wall ahead I knew that I would have to do something, I shoved the paddle in front of me and stopped at an abrupt stop while Marley travelled past me screaming how he was going to die, he ended up going head on with a wall which was so much funnier than the little girl that I had almost run down in my race to victory.
"We have to buy some cookies." Marley yelled at me while he pushed the cart back up the small hill that he had gone down, I nodded at him knowing that I would pick out the milk chocolate chip ones; I could never handle much chocolate. We ended up walking into a Walmart down the street instead of staying in the mall, we were pondering down the aisles Marley wanted to have white chocolate chip cookies and double chocolate ones so I compromised and bought all three much to Marley's delight. He raced off to go and grab some popcorn and some drinks while I wandered down the desert aisle.
"Yes mum, milk and eggs, I got it I don't need to be told fifty times." I recognised that voice! Carlson, he was here I walked further down the aisle before I caught sight of him, Walmart was surprisingly busy for a school day, especially for those with carts.
"Carlson? Hey! What are you doing here?" I beamed at him, he looked down at me shocked but a smile soon crossed his features.
"I was just getting the final ingredients for dinner, mum apparently didn't go shopping before she decided to cook, “He gave a little chuckle with an eye roll, "So where's this guy that you met?" Just as he said that Marely came rushing around the corner spouting some rubbish about losing me, he put his arm around me then noticed Carlson. Poop.
"Here." I whispered Carlson's face contorted to one of rage; okay someone needs to take a chill pill, not the best thought Summer. Shut up and explain.
"This is Marley." I quickly told him, Carlson's face softened slightly but not enough so that you couldn't see the anger that ran through his face.
"So why has he got his arm around you." Carlson pretty much growled the question out through his gritted teeth, I tried to get his arm off of me but he wasn't budging obviously not understand our current predicament.
"She hasn't told you?" Marley looked hurt but I could tell he was faking it, 'don't do' I kept chanting in my head but of course my luck isn't that good. "Are you ashamed of our relationship honey? I can't believe that, have you not told anyone about us!" I finally moved out of Marley's grip annoyed at him for doing such a thing, I opened my mouth to say that he had been joking but Carlson had already punched him. Marley groaned on the floor but did nothing to get up, I looked over at Carlson he was really annoyed so angry I couldn't even see the point in saying anything.
"Why did you punch me man?" Marley slowly stood up while rubbing what must now be a very painful bruise.
"That's my girlfriend." A sigh of relief went through me as he said that I was still his girlfriend, I didn't want a stupid joke to be what ended us.
"Damn really, she told me about you." I smiled at him, we had spoken about Carlson a fair bit and a girl that Marely liked apparently I reminded him of her a lot.
"No actually, she was my girlfriend." My jaw dropped at that, how could?
"Carlson what the hell, he was joking! You heard him, I told him about you. I was so angry at him right now but he wasn't even paying me any attention, I followed him but he wasn't listening or stopping no matter how often I told him that there was nothing going on. He apparently didn't trust me enough to believe him so I just fell to the floor in tears; I was going to tell him that I was falling in love with him, how could I do that now? He didn't even trust that I wouldn't cheat on him; he has anger issues that's for sure.
"I'm sorry... Please come back to mine. I'll try and make you feel better." It was a nice offer but I wasn't sure whether to take him up on it, after all he was the one that got me into this mess. I said no to him and dropped him off at home; I just wanted to be alone.
'He was the guy that I told you about, he was just joking around there's nothing going on between us. I get it if you just wanted a way out.'
I text him, curling up in a ball and crying myself to sleep, why did I deserve this?
