After Max has left, and papers scattered everywhere, it's 8:45. I scoop up all the papers, and carry them upstairs with me.

I change out of my leggings and shirt, into a nice blue set of pajamas.

I organize the homework into piles of classes, and put them in my backpack.

I pull my blankets over myself and reach for my book. I check the clock and it is 9:07. I open it and fall asleep reading the beautiful words by John Green.

The next day, I go into Spanish class, and Max isn't there. I see Sam, one of Max's friends, and I talk to him.

"So... How've you been?" He asks me.

"Good! Max came over yesterday... and... hel-"

"Alicia? Y-you there?"

I can't hear him, because someone caught my eye.

A girl, laughing with her friends. Straight teeth, beautiful smile. She has elbow length black straight hair. She doesn't have glasses, and she has green eyes. Emerald green. This must be Max's second cousin Michelle! He's told me too much about her! She is so pretty. She's wearing a blue and pink dress and some pink high heels, about two inches tall. She has an oval-circle face. She looks exactly like Max! That's why Max told me his parents said they could be twins!

My heart flutters like it has wings and it wants to leap out of my chest. I want to go right up to her, so I stand. I sit back own and regret my thoughts.

"You okay?" Sam asks me.

"Yeah..." I mumble, and I stare at her.

"Oh... You noticed Michelle?"

"Mhm," I respond. "She's c-" I stop before I say too much.

"Yes?" Sam wonders and looks at me with a look that says finish your sentence!

"She's colorful! I love her outfit!" Phew!

"I know! She wears a lot of blue and pink. It's kind of her statement colors."

"Oh cool!"

During Spanish I wonder where Max is, but I can't stop staring at Michelle. She's very pretty and I love her style. About two or three times she catches me staring at her, but she just smiles and waves at me very kindly. I can tell she's nice from that.

Class ends, and I feel a tap on my shoulder at my locker.

"Hey Alicia!" I hear. I turn around, and see Michelle.

"H-how did you know my name?" I can feel my face getting red.

"Oh!" She hesitates to answer. "Max told me all about you!"

"Cool! Max has told me all about you!"

We sit in silence for about fifteen seconds, but it feels like forever that we are staring at each other. I cherish these few seconds before she speaks again

"Umm... What class do you have next?"

"I have...um," I check my schedule, while my face gets more red. "I have Science."

"Oh. I have Social Studies! I hope we see each other in another class! Bye!" She says as I walk into the Science room.

I can not stop thinking about her. Oh. My. God. Alicia you totally have a crush on her. No! I whine in my head. This better not get out again. I take a deep breath and shake my head to try and get her out of my head. I still can't.

The next time I see her was in Study Hall.

"Hey!" She says. "How have you been?"
"Fine," I say as my face turns a light pink. "How are you?"

"Good!"

We both sit down in our spots, but she's across the room from me.

Good. I think. I don't have to be embarrassed if my face gets red.

I try not to stare at her, but I can't help it.

This can not get out again. I have to make it less noticeable that I might like her. Okay... I totally like her.
