Sam's POV

Sam wasn't very enthusiastic about going back to school, he didn't exactly fit in. Even if he was a good fighter, and even if he did try really hard to protect the bully's victims nobody seemed to like him. The bully that he tended to step between him and his victims the most was a guy named Crowley. Crowley had already given Sam a nickname do to his odd height compared to the other students, Crowley called him Moose, but Sam didn't really care. If Crowley had been trying to be mean and witty when he had come up with the name he had failed miserably, it was slightly annoying but nothing more. Sam was snapped out of his revery by a boy sitting down next to him in the far corner in the back of the class room, and reaching over enthusiastically to shake his hand as he said, "Hi my name is Gabriel, what's your name?" Sam stared at him thinking to himself about how badly he didn't want to ruin this kids life by letting the kid be seen talking to him, "I'm Sam, and if I were you I would stay away from me, you'll never hear the end of it if they see you with me." Sam felt bad for being so blunt but he didn't want to see this kid get hurt because of him, Gabriel startled him by saying happily, "No I think we're going to be great friends I think I like you, you seem nice!" Sam had no idea what to say he had never met a guy so strong willed and care free. Sam shook his head and sighed thinking that someone would tell him soon enough and it would scare him off. If he ever did make friends they didn't last long before the kids that had been here since 6th grade told them about Sam and scared them off. In 6th grade Sam had practically been thrown out of the closet by a girl that wouldn't take no for an answer until finally he told her why he wouldn't go out with her, that being his mistake, and she told the entire school that he was gay.

Gabriel's POV

Gabriel was excited, it was his first day at a new school where nobody knew him and he could start over. Gabriel walked, or rather skipped, into his first class but stopped at the door to look around. Gabriel thought of all the options he had, he could sit anywhere with anyone, but he found himself moving to the back of the class room where a lonely looking boy sat. Gabriel sat down beside him and reached over to the boy and said with a large smile on his face, "Hi my name is Gabriel, what's your name?" The boy looked up clearly startled to have someone actually talking to him, the boy contemplated what to say for a few seconds before he said coldly, "I'm Sam, and if I were you I would stay away from me, you'll never hear the end of it if they see you with me." Gabriel just smiled bigger and said to him after they shook hands, "No I think we're going to be great friends I think I like you, you seem nice." Gabriel didn't like the thought of Sam being lonely but Gabriel thought that maybe he could help, he tried to keep the thoughts of the tall attractive boy out of his mind through his other classes, but it didn't seem to be working. By the time lunch came Gabriel was starving, he walked into the cafeteria holding his lunch that Cassie had packed for him. he paused looking around not know where to sit, but then looking to the farthest corners of the cafeteria he found Sam siting by his self at a small lunch table, so of course Gabriel quickly walked to the table that Sam was sitting at and sat down across from him.

Sam's POV

Sam walked down the hallway that led to the cafeteria looking for bullies picking on kids taking their lunch money, lunch, or things of that nature. At this school right before lunch seems to be a prime time for bullies to strike. Sam alway left class a little bit early to make a lap through the hallways of the school so he could get to lunch on time and also make sure that nobody was getting picked on or beat up. 'Today is my lucky day' Sam thought sarcastically as he turned a corner to find a thickly muscled guy pinning a kid next to the wall and hitting him over and over Sam ran to the rescue and tackled the guy, he growled and threw Sam off of him and into a wall Sam moved out of the way just in time to keep his head from getting punched into the wall. Sam countered the guy as he swung again and Sam ducked and punched him in the gut, the guy bent over in pain, but only for a few seconds before he was back up and throwing punches, he landed a few on Sam's face but Sam landed a lot more punches until finally, Muscles surrendered and turned and ran away. Sam turned to the kid crouched in a corner with blood running down his face. Sam slowly walked over to him as not to scare him and said, "Hey buddy are you ok?" All the kid got out was. "Please don't hurt me." in a small meek voice. Sam sighed and said, "I'm not going to hurt you, come on let's get you to the nurse, but when the boy tried to stand he just fell back down. Sam sighed again and picked him up and carried him to the nurse's office. The nurse looked up as he came in and let out a little gasp followed by, "What did you do?!" Sam glared at her for a moment and replied with, "Saved his ass!" She looked taken aback and gave him that teacher look that says 'I can't believe you just said that!' But she didn't say anything about it and just said, "Lay him down here." She patted one of the small blue beds in the back room so I followed and laid him down on the mattress. I turned to go but she stopped me and said, "What happened? Who did this?!" I turned to look at her and said, "I don't know who the guy was, but whoever he was he was big and now has a bloody face!" She glared at me then said, "Come here you need stitches or at least an ice pack." I shook my head, regretting it slightly when pain lanced through the back of my head from where it got slammed into a wall, and said, "I'm fine I've had worse." with that I turned and walked out grabbing my lunch out of my locker and heading back to the cafeteria keeping my eye out for victims but there were none, so I headed to my table in the farthest corner of the cafeteria where no one would bother me. I sat down and started picking at my lunch when I noticed someone sitting down at the other side of the table. I looked up confused only to see a dumbstruck Gabriel who had suddenly paled like he had seen a ghost. I grouchily asked "What?!" and Gabriel had a sympathetic look on his face now as he asked, "What happened?" I shook my head looking down, again wishing I would stop deciding that shaking my head was a good idea. "Nothing" I replied with little to no emotion. Gabriel stubbornly came to the other side of the table to get a better look, I felt a warm, soft hand on my chin making me look up at him. he sighed, "You need stitches." but my mind wasn't on the pain anymore it was on his hand on my skin, and how good it felt to be near this boy that I had just met. I looked up at him for a moment, forgetting the worry that we would be caught, and simply melting into his touch, he sat down next to me and grabbed his lunch that had been sitting on the opposite side of the lunch table and put it in front of him. I gave up, I let him in and we chatted for the rest of lunch and when it ended we compared schedules and found that we only had one more class together and that was our last class of the day. When the end of the school day came we walked together to where we would be picked up and talked.

Gabriel's POV

Gabriel looked over at Sam for a moment before he decided what to say, "Sam, why don't you have any friends here? you seem like a great guy to me." Sam looked down at his feet for a few seconds before mumbling, "because I'm gay" the words were very quiet like Sam would have been ok with it if Gabriel didn't hear him, but Gabriel caught it and smiled bringing his hand up to Sam's chin to make him look up at him, "Me too, that's why I was so excited about coming here, somehow the entire school found out and I was a complete outcast." Sam looked at him and knew that there was no going back and that it was likely that he and Gabriel would both get made fun of for this but at the moment Sam really didn't care. Gabriel felt Sam lean in and he closed his eyes as he felt Sam's warm soft lips on his, he heard all kinds of things from the other kids, he heard ewwws and gross' and lots of other things but in that moment it was just him and Sam and they were kissing and they just didn't care what everyone else thought.
