Pic Of Aunt Jody and Uncle Pete
*~*~*~*~*
Chapter 9
I stood and looked around the room that was to be mine for the time being. It was a purple kind of colour and everything in the room seemed to match. There was a big TV on top of a white and purple dresser. And the big queen size bed was across from the TV, right in the middle of the room and against the wall. There was two doors beside each other - One leading to the closet and the other the bathroom I thought - and beside the big bed was a little night table with a purple beaded lamp. It was definitely decorated to suit a teenage girl's personality.
I gently placed my bag on the comfy looking bed and explored the room further. As I sat down on the bed keeping my eyes at wonder there was a small knock from the other door - which I guessed was the conjoined bathroom. I got up off the bed and walked over to the door pulling it open to see Kent looking at me with a bright smile.
"I think I like this place" he said taking a look at my bedroom. My smile grew at his words and I nodded, even knowing he wasn't looking at my but my room.
"I know, me too. I really hope my instincts are right this time" I said and walked over towards Kent's 'room'. It looked more of a games room turned into a bedroom, as mine looked as if it were a guests room turned into a teenage girls room. Kent's room was more set up like a guys room, there was a big TV on the wall and a mini air hockey table underneath. There was a small dresser adjacent to the TV and a two doors opposite that - the room door and the closet. On the opposite wall of the air hockey table was a double bed and the walls were pained a boyish navy blue. All in all it was a nice room.
I sat down on Kent's bed and rested my head against the headboard, letting out a sigh. Moments later Kent sits down next to me doing the same thing. Giggles escape from me immediately as Kent and I start laughing together. 'God it's nice to laugh like this and have no worry' I thought.
We stayed like that for probably 15 minutes before we heard footsteps in the hallway and then a light knock on Kent's door.
"Kent? Dinner's ready if you would like some" said our aunt as she stood outside the door, probably wanting to give Kent some space.
"You can come in!"He shouts back before the door opens and Aunt Jody looks over at the both of us.
"Oh! Hello Brooklyn."
"Hello" I reply not exactly comfortable with the 'Aunt Jody' part right now.
"Uhm, I just came up to tell you dinners ready. I mean if you two are hungry." She says with a bright smile as if that alone would make us come down stairs and eat with our 'new' family.
"Yeah, sure" I said as I got up and then held out my hand for Kent. Jody smiled and started walking as if for us to follow. We went down the long hallway passing about 6 doors and then took a left walking through a comfy looking living room and a right walking into a kitchen that looked attached to a dining room. There were 3 people sitting at the table. One was Jody's husband, our uncle, Pete. The other was a guy who looked to be in his early 20's and a girl who seemed to be around my age. All of them looked similar in some way or another so I automatically assumed that the two new ones are their kids and our cousins.
"Brooklyn, Kent this is my son Jordy and my daughter Samantha" Aunt Jody introduced and Kent stepped forward, hand extended. Jordy was a good looking guy with dark brown hair and clear, shaven tanned skin. He had hazel eyes and a bright smile while he looked at both my brother and myself. I stood behind Kent not attempting to shake hands as I felt nervous for once. I just smiled at him and then at Samantha. She had the same colour hair as Jordy, but paler skin. Her eyes were a dark blue, which were identical to her mothers. She was pretty, but more of the girl next door pretty.
