Chapter 7 : Exam day

They were fucking right.
He DID overwork himself.
But VOLUNTARILY.

"He's insane."
The acquaintance said while glancing at Midoriya.

"Mhm."
(Y/n) nods while shooting him a glare.

Midoriya laughs nervously, apologising rapidly for making his two friends worried for him.

Last weekend, (Y/n) was having a relaxing, afternoon walk at the park.
And what do they find?
Midoriya collapsing with a microwave on his back with All Might on a Segway beyond some bushes.

That's how they found out he was overworking.
And of course they had to tell their friend about it like they promised.

"But, isn't eavesdropping a little...-"

"Don't change the subject!"
(Y/n) cuts Midoriya off mid sentence, making him jump.

"Midoriya, you are right, eavesdropping is bad on (Y/n)'s side."
The acquaintance said. (Y/n) feeling the stab of betrayal impale their chest.

"HEY."

"And the fact that they shared it to me immediately makes it seem like they can't be trusted."
He continued while (Y/n) tried their absolute best to defend themselves.

"I PROMISED YOU?"

"But, do you blame us Midoriya."
He said, making (Y/n) slowly calm down, a small smile finding its way onto their face.

"We care about you. You know."
He ends, a soft smile painting onto his face.

"Yeah! Ever since the first time we walked home together!"
(Y/n) chimes in while the acquaintance just rolls his eyes playfully.

"Maybe that's a you thing."
He joked while (Y/n) took a while to register.

And then their face erupts into a shade of pink.

"SHUT UP."

They continued their bickering, Midoriya looks at them with a sigh, they bicker like siblings.
But, he's happy to see this sight.

It makes his heart beat happily to know more people care about him.

"Oh yea speaking of training."
(Y/n) trails off, capturing the attention of the two boys.

"The test is soon, do you want to walk together there, Midoriya?"
They ask, turning towards Midoriya while the acquaintance merely looks away with a huff.

"What the hell. I'm third wheeling already."
He curses in his head.

Midoriya simply freezes.
The only thing that registers through his ears was "together" and the fact that the acquaintance isn't invited.
So it's, the both of them? Alone??

"Earth to Midoriyaaaa, (Y/n) you broke him how could you."
The acquaintance said, a hand waving over the boy's face.

"Midoriya?? Midoriya please don't malfunction now! The test is in a week!!"
(Y/n) panics while the other continues to blame it on them.

Midoriya finally snaps out of it. Shaking his head vigorously before nodding.

"YEAH! I mean, yes! I'd lo- like to walk with you!"
He replied, very lately and nervously.

"You make it sound like it's a date-"
The acquaintance gets cut off by a punch on the shoulder by (Y/n).

"OW?"

"I was saving that for Bakugou."

(Y/n) and the other continue bickering while Midoriya desperately tries to break them off.
