Chapter 12 : Close Call

Numerous tests came one after another. Ones that tested their grip strength and ones that tested their agility, long jump for example, which Ryu aced with ease.

Everyone was actually doing great, apart from Midoriya, who struggled the whole way. It worried (Y/n) especially because of the last place gets expelled threat. But he is working hard, they'll give him that!

And soon, the ball throw finally came.

This was definitely Uraraka's specialty, she got infinity as her score which earned a happy squeal from (Y/n) while they congratulated her.
Now it was Ryu's turn.

He catches the ball that was tossed by his teacher. Tossing it up and down in his right hand to get used to it's weight while walking up to the area.

"..."
He stares out, completely focused.

Winding his arm back, then throwing the ball forward as hard as he could.

Just as the ball started nearing the ground, he sucks in the air once again and releases it towards the ball, using enough wind pressure to push it forward even more.

"634.5 meters."
The teacher announces while (Y/n) cheers supportively.

"RYU THAT WAS SO COOL!!"
They cheered on while hopping in front of Ryu.

"Of course. It's me we're talking about."
He said in a low voice, proudly lifting his chin up with eyes closed.

With others, Ryu was mostly a closed off person which made him rather intimidating but (Y/n) never left him alone when they were kids.

The teacher tiredly sighs at his somehow energetic student when he swore he saw them fall asleep in most of the classes.

"(L/n). You're up."
He monotonously calls out, tossing the ball at them.

"Hm? Oh shi-"
They cursed out while barely catching hold onto the ball.

They rather nervously started walking up to the area, before going any further Ryu gives them a pat on the back while Midoriya and Uraraka gave them a supportive thumbs up.

It calmed them down, a smile plastered onto their face when they got up to the ball throwing area.

"Give me a moment..."
They said while thinking about the best form to use.

A combo maybe?
But which felines... A cheetah for speed, lion for extra strength?

But they haven't really mastered lion, using it can only last a few before it starts hurting.

But then again it's just for the ball throwing right?

They took in a deep breath. Transforming their dominant arm into a cheetah's arm then bracing themselves for the next part.

Wincing at the pain of bones relocating into a not very familiar form. The pain soon lessened when it's done. They sighed, stretching the arm a little to get used to it.

"Let's try and beat Bakugou..!"
They thought to themselves before winding back.

Then throwing the ball through the sky.
Immediately morphing their arm back to normal, sighing in relief.

"633.5 metres."
The teacher announces while (Y/n) jolts.

"LESSER THAN RYU?!"
They asked out in a hurt tone.

"Lol."
Ryu commented out loud, definitely knowing what he's doing to provoke (Y/n).

"HAHA YOU CAN'T EVEN REACH MINE!"
Bakugou laughed out while flipping them off again.
