"Hey, big brother," A little girl about the age of 6 crouches down beside her older brother in the sand. "What are you playing?"
"I'm making a sandcastle." Says her older brother, Jotaro, who is 7.
He takes a bucket and scoops sand up and fills it to the top, then plopping it face down onto a mound of even more sand. As he lifts up the bucket, sand falls right out of it, failing to make a sand pillar.
"It's not working. Ivy, I need help." The raven haired boy looked to his sister's direction.
"Jojo, maybe you should try holding it down longer. I'll help!" Ivy stumbled hurriedly and grabbed the bucket and scooped up the sand.
"If we keep the sand in for a long time, it might make your castle," The girl flipped it over and held it in place with her older brother for 10 minutes.
After the long wait, the bucket was lifted. The sand rolled out of the container. Jotaro was growing frustrated.
"We need help. Where's mom? She knows how to make it become a pillar." Jotaro puffed his cheeks.
"Mama is over there. She looks sleepy though." Ivy nodded her head.
"Great, now I'll never be able to make the ultimate sand castle." Jotaro whined.
"That's okay big brother, do you want to play tag instead?"
"No, I wanna build my sandcastle."
"But the sand keeps falling out..."
"Maybe I can help...?" A soft and shy voice said through the sounds of waves crashing and the sounds of seagulls squawking.
When the Kujo's turned around they saw a red-headed boy with a long curl in the front. His eyes were an amethyst color and he wore green swim trunks. He looked around Jotaro's age.
"We're making a sandcastle but it won't stick. Help?" Jotaro patted the soft sand beside him, signaling the other little boy to squat with the two.
"You have to get the sand wet." The redhead took the bucket, waddled to the sea and scooped up a fair amount of water. Then he ran back and put in some sand, and flipped over the bucket. He tapped the bucket and slid it off, making a sand pillar.
"Cool!" The sibling's eyes lit up. The other tiny boy blushed and looked away.
"I'm Kujo Jotaro. I'm seven years old." He held out his hands for the other boy to shake. "That is my little sister, Kujo Ivy."
"Kakyoin Noriaki. I'm 6." He shook Jotaro's hand. "Hey, I noticed something."
"Hm?" The Kujo's tilted their heads.
"Ivy has an English name. You don't."
"O-oh. Our mom is American and her name is Holly, which is a plant. So she named me Ivy." Ivy twirled her hair.
"Cool," Kakyoin smiled softly. "Do you guys want to continue building the sandcastle?"
"Sure!"
They built a huge sandcastle that even included a moat. It was decorated with seashells (Jotaro's idea), and it had tiny pebbles around the border. As a finishing touch, Kakyoin put a twig with a leaf attached on it to create a flag.
The Kujo's and Kakyoin laughed and played together, writing in the sand and running on the beach. The fun didn't seem to end until-
"Noriaki-kun! Come now, it's time to go home! Say bye-bye to your friends." A woman's voice was heard loudly.
"Wow, it's late." Jotaro looked at the horizon, where the sun was beginning to set.
"You're right. I have to say bye now, my parents are taking me home." Kakyoin shrugged.
"That's ok, we can all play together next time!" Ivy pulled Kakyoin into a warm hug. Kakyoin flinched but eventually hugged back.
"Yeah. Let's play some more, next time we should go swimming." Jotaro grinned.
"That would be fun. Ok guys, see you! Bye!" Kakyoin ran until he hugged a woman with short red hair and was wearing a purple sundress.
"Thank you for playing with him!" She yelled out.
"Yeah!" Ivy waved towards the woman. She nodded back and walked away with the tinier red haired boy, who waved back.
Eventually, Jotaro and Ivy went home with Holly.
