The school day drags on, categorized by skill set and doused in spinning sunrises on my palm. Emery squeals her thoughts on my match while I poke my salad package. As soon as she takes her first breath in what seems like hours, Damon slams himself onto the chair beside me.

"Good afternoon ladies," his grin stretched from one ear to the next, showcasing his dimples.

"What's up with you?" I inquire noticing his sudden mood change. Emery, completely oblivious to the change in events, babbles on about dashing princes I could be marrying.

"I aced my skills test. I'll finally be moving on," he gloats.

At the end of every skills unit we are required to test in order to display mastery. While Emery and I are nearing the end of our final skills unit, Damon is finishing up his twenty-third. Overall there are twenty-five units we must master before we are assigned to a specific set. At the end of our skills journey we take an assessment which places us in the correct career for our abilities.

"That's awesome! Hopefully you'll catch up with us!" This is my biggest wish after all. I want to milk my last few months with him as long as possible.

After the lunch hour ends, I make my way to my last lab. Quickly I drape myself in the required lab coat and adjust my safety goggles. For the next hour and a half we identify, mix, and observe chemicals. I've already been pegged as a government advocate, so I don't need to be detail oriented in the sciences. The majority of my lab team has shown specific skills in areas unrelated to science as well; basically, we float over our assignments rather than plunging into them.

By the time the final bell rings, I've completed my labs and sanitized my work area. I gather my materials and make way towards the station. Damon has his feet sprawled across his favorite bench, and his head rests hanging off the side, eyes closed. I ruffle his hair and set his feet atop my lap.

"Evening Gorgeous," he winks and sits up, placing his feet on the pavement.

"Nice to see you too," I laugh, slightly blushing.

He scoots closer, his fingertips grazing my thigh, "Do you want to do something tonight?"

"Before lights out?" I push my hair behind my ear.

"No, I was thinking after..." He leans in closer, "like we uses to? Just a bit of recklessness before we receive or assignments and matches."

"Oh, sure," I try to hide my excitement.

"It's a date then," his grin grows as he settles back into the bench.

"What's going on?" Emery bugs, nudging her way in between us.

"Nothing, Brit was just informing me on her activities of the present day," Damon smiles, then shoots me a "shh" look.

My smile mimics his. I've come to miss our adventures, and I don't want them to

end.
