Chapter 2- Is This Love

Four years later~

"Kim Taehyung this is the tenth time you skipped school this month! Other days you sneak out at night or you don't come home till late!" Scolded Tae's mother. Taehyung bowed his head in shame that he'd been caught.
The boy nodded his head as his mother scolded him fiercely, his mother held her head. "Just go outside and play or something." Taehyung nodded again and went his way. Checking as usual to see if there was anyone around he dove into the water not heading straight to the meeting rock but instead just going for a swim.

Jimin and Jungkook swam in circles awaiting Taehyung's arrival. They always head to the surface at the first bell which represented dawn under the water. Since sunlight didn't quite reach to certain parts of the sea world the sea created a special light in the sea, like the moon it reflected light from the sun, but the ball of light was alot brighter than the moon. At every hour there would be a light toll. But at dawn and dusk the bell would ring for a minute. At the end of a week the bell would ring for five minutes. Jimin and Jungkook both met up under water often and hung out around where they often met to prevent suspicion. Sirens and Mer relationships were not unheard of but they were looked down upon. Though as the years went by the sea folk became more accepting with the persuasion of the nymphs. A relationship in the eyes of the sea was nearly unbreakable
Not many relationships failed because of how accepting the sea was. Gender was not a big deal since the difference of gender was quite small.
The two boys let out a sigh through their gills neither of them feeling like having a verbal conversation. Jungkook placed his head on Jimin's shoulder feeling his eyes drooping. Jimin allowed him to fall into a deep slumber soon doing the same himself. Taehyung never came to the meeting spot that day and the two boys both swam home disappointed.

Taehyung felt extremely guilty about not going to meet his friends the previous day,he couldn't stop thinking about them. He let out a heavy sigh as he contemplated whether to go to school or to the beach. Taehyung decided going to school would be best since his parents were already disappointed in him.
When he arrived at his assigned classroom he took his usual seat at the back of the class. Taehyung was a very smart boy and would always get the right answers when he was homeschooled. But when he started going to school he lost interest in his education. The fact that school was to help children socialize was complete bull. Taehyung became even more antisocial the moment he began to go to school (me). The class started off well with Taehyung being able to ignore his thoughts and focus on his notes. Soon the period ended and Taehyung was lucky that he had a free period. He raced out of the school like he usually did and ran down to the beach, this time being careful of anyone who could be looking. Then he jumped into the water, his backpack long discarded on the sand. Taehyung swam with all of his might, longing to apologize to his friends for somewhat abandoning them. When he reached to the rock he saw a sad Jungkook comforting a crying Jimin. "Tae!" They both yelled in joy,Jimin didn't even bother to wipe his tears they both swam towards him and threw themselves at him with such force that sent him down. He giggled under the water. "Tae you've been making us produce water from our eyes for way too many times. We'll get sick,our kinds don't cry like yours unless we are above the water,and we only go up a handful of times. The sirens can afford to cry but the mer can't." Grumbled Jungkook. Jimin just rubbed his face all over Tae's and sighed in content. Taehyung had not yet grown accustomed to speaking under water, the salt often burned his throat so he decided to stay quiet till they went back up. "I'm so sad I haven't gotten my ability to give you a tail yet Tae, I'm a silver tailed siren and I haven't even gotten my ability nor my fangs yet." Jimin Pouted.  "It's okay Jiminie when we both get our abilities we'll tell Tae first and we'll try them out on him!" Suggested Jungkook. Taehyung really wanted to share his morning and give his friends an explanation of what had happened the previous day so he kicked his legs lightly and went up. "Guys you know I don't talk underwater~." He whined as soon as the two others had come up as well. "Oh sorry Tae." Said Jungkook sheepishly. "Hey guys my mum said that my fangs will grow in any day now. And when they do I'll get to hunt!" Jungkook groaned. "Why do you always have to remind me that you're a siren? I swear you're kind are so..." Jimin cocked his eyebrow daring Jungkook to continue. "I swear when I get my fangs you'll be the first one I bite." Jimin grumbled under his breath causing Taehyung who had been quiet to let out a laugh. "Oh no, guys I have to go now I still have school remember? But don't worry I'll be back tonight okay?" The two others looked at him sadly as he turned to go. "Wait Tae." Called Jimin, Taehyung turned his head  just in time to receive a kiss on both cheeks by two flaming red boys. Taehyung blushed madly himself and quickly waved and swam away.
Back at school Taehyung felt on top of the world, he was humming and smiling like a mad man. He payed the teacher no mind and doodled in his notebook, he hummed to himself not realizing that all eyes were on him. "Kim Taehyung! Detention!" Yelled the teacher. Taehyung frowned worriedly, if his parents found out that he had detention he'd be in big trouble and then he wouldn't be able to see Jimin and Jungkook. The image of the two of them crying at the rock made Taehyung angry at the taecher  (see what I did there lmao) and at his parents. He looked at the teacher with hatred in his eyes,then he ran out of the classroom, the other students looked at him in shock and so did the teacher. Taehyung didn't care, he needed to get to his friends. He was out of the classroom and running down the hallway when two strong arms grabbed him. "Kim Taehyung, the trouble student, why are you running through the hallway in the middle of fifth period?" The man who grabbed him was the principal who stood there with an amused yet serious look in his face. Taehyung internally groaned. The man looked at Taehyung expectantly. Taehyung just coughed awkwardly and avoided eye contact. "Kim Taehyung I asked you a question." He demanded calmly. Taehyung smirked to himself. "I was going to the beach." The man looked at him in confusion. "And for what reason?" "I wanted to go for a swim." The man scoffed. "Please tell me the real reason you were leaving, I am getting impatient." Taehyung rolled his eyes. "I told you my reason now please get out of my way, I need to take a swim." Taehyung could see the man was losing it but he was speaking the truth. The man grumbled under his breath and began to drag Taehyung towards his office. "I'm going to have to call your parents since you are not cooperating." Taehyung struggled out of his grip and ran, the principal let him go and decided to call his parents. Taehyung ran with all his might to the beach. He dropped his bag and ran in and dove. When Taehyung reached the rock Jimin and Jungkook were nowhere to be seen. He sighed in disappointment, they were always there and he couldn't go looking for them since he was 'human'. He sat on the rock and decided to wait.
Meanwhile under the sea Jungkook was dealing with his own problem. A young mermaid named Yeri had the hugest crush on him. She was cute but it was just that Jungkook couldn't deal with girls well. "Jungkook Oppa!" She yelled after him, every yell pissed Jungkook off even more. He hated being called Oppa, but poor Yeri didn't know that. It wasn't her fault though, he was older than her. The poor girl searched everywhere for Jungkook. The girl finally went away and Jungkook could breathe but what he didn't know was that Yeri had wandered into open ocean territory while searching for him. Yeri was still calling for Jungkook, she began to get worried, 'what if he got lost?!' Her innocent mind wondered and without second thought she swam into open ocean to find her poor lost Jungkookie Oppa. 
The ocean was beginning to get darker than more she swam, but she faced her fear thinking to herself that she should be brave for Jungkook. "What's a little mermaid doing here?" She heard a feminine voice ask. "W-who's there?" She asked, her voice terrified. "It's only me young one don't be afraid." A nymph came into view. Yeri gasped she'd read about nymphs before but to see one was rare. The nymph was beautiful. "What's your name young one?" "Y-yeri." Came her choked reply. "My name is Joyelia but you can call me Joy." The nymph stretched out her hand for Yeri to shake. When Yeri shook Joy's hand Joy gasped. "Mate?"Sheasked herself in shock. "Yeri how old are you?" Joy asked suddenly. "Eleven going on twelve,why?" Joy smiled sadly. "You do know I'm a nymph right?" Yeri nodded. "You know that nymphs have mates right?" Yeri nodded again. "Well you're my mate Yeri-ah." Yeri's eyes widened in shock. "B-but how old are you?" Asked Yeri. "I'm one hundred and eighty five years old, quite young for a nymph actually." Yeri smiled and let out a sigh of relief. "You aren't an adult nymph yet." "We can stick around eachother I'm kinda lost, do you know the way back to Busan district?" Joy nodded and grinned. Yeri followed her thankfully.

Taehyung was still atop the rock with a forlorn expression on his face. He felt the water begin to vibrate slightly and knew that someone or something was headed his way he brought his feet up out of the water. Suddenly a familiar face popped out of the water. "TaeTae? I thought you were coming back at night?" Jimin asked confused. Taehyung just shrugged his shoulders. "Tae are you okay?" Asked Jimin who noticed his gloom. The sirens boy pulled Taehyung down into the water and hugged him. "You okay? Is it school, your mom, the teacher, the principal, the students, Bogum?" Taehyung nodded his head. "Yes to which one Tae." "All of them." He whispered hoarsely. Then he broke, the tears ran freely, he just had all of that pent up stress. He let it all out as Jimin spoke soothing words into his ear. "Guys? You okay?" Asked a new voice. Jungkook had arrived and it didn't take him long to figure out what was going on. "Was it that Bogum? I swear to God I'll kill him." Jimin shook his head as Tae began to cry harder, Jungkook sighed and joined the hug.

A few good minutes had passed and Taehyung had stopped crying and was just floating there in silence with the two others holding him. "Are you ready to tell us what happened?" Jimin asked in a cautious voice. Taehyung nodded. "My mom is coming down so hard on me, she treats me like a five year old, she slaps me about, my teachers treat me like shit, the students do also, they treat me like I'm a delinquent. Bogum is just mean I don't know what to do anymore." Taehyung began crying again and the two boys just hugged him tighter. "Tae don't worry you will always have us, right Jiminie?" Jimin nodded and wiped away Tae's tears. "I don't want to go home." "Neither do we Tae but we have to ok?" "Can we all just stay like this for a while?" They agreed to Jungkook's suggestion as always and spent the next hour and a half in each other's arms before Tae had to go. That day was the day they knew for sure that they had feelings for eachother but they kept quiet relishing in the silence.
