Axel's POV

I looked back over my shoulder at Rose laying on the bed. She looks lifeless. Especially with all the tubes and wires hooked to her. This was why I had tried so hard to protect her, so she wouldn't be in this situation.

I closed the door quietly and made my way to the desk. "Excuse me. Could you tell me where Jack Black is?" I asked the woman.

"Um. Are you family?" She asked looking up at me and batting her eyelashes.

"Yes. He's my father." I reply while mentally rolling my eyes at her.

"Oh well in that case..." She began as a doctor walked up looking as if he had just come out of surgery.

"Janet. If the family of Jack Black show up send them to me." He said before turning to walk away.

"Is my father going to be okay?" I ask grabbing his shoulder so he would stop.

"Are you Axel Thorn?" He asked looking down at me.

"Yes. Now is my father going to be okay?" I ask again and he motions for me to follow him down the hall.

"With time yes. But he may not be able to ever talk again." He said opening his office door.

"I thought he was shot in the chest?" I say questioning.

"He was. But the bullet shattered and spread. One of the fragments entered the side of his vocal cord. Now there is a chance that he will be able to but he more than likely won't." He said sitting in his chair while I stood there staring at him.

"Are you sure that you removed all of the fragments?" I asked after a couple minutes of silence.

"Yes. Or at least we were able to rebuild the bullet. We already sent it to the station that way they can trace the gun." He said and I nodded.

"Well am I allowed to see him now?" I asked not exactly looking forward to this one side conversation.

"Yeah room twenty. Knock first then go on in." He said and I left the room without finding out his name.

As I walked toward room twenty I started to second guess myself. I mean this man had caused me a lot of pain and I don't know if I'm ready to put that behind me yet or not.

Before I could talk myself out of it I raised my hand and knocked on the door. Then I walked in. My dad was laying on the bed and had just as many if not more tubes and wires hooked to his pale apparently lifeless body.

I sat in the chair next to him and just stared at him because I'm not trusting myself to talk right now.

"Dad. I don't know if you can hear me or not but I thought he should know that Rosella is going to be fine. They think that since Jared landed on top of her that her wounds weren't as bad as they should have been. That don't even make any sense to me." I said confused. I leaned back in the chair and closed my eyes allowing myself to fall asleep.

Rosella's POV

I woke up to that very annoying beeping sound that I hate. I looked over at Jared sleeping in the chair and smiled. Even in sleep he looks worried. I looked around and saw my bag on the floor.

Quietly I removed the iv from my arm and detached the heart monitor. I stood shaking and limped toward the bag. I unzipped it and smile.

Jared must have packed my clothes because inside was a pair of bright yellow pants and a red shirt. After looking to make sure the door was closed I went ahead and changed my clothes in the middle of the room.

I walked over to Jared and wrapped my arms around him from behind. He jerked awake reaching back to grab my arms. "Jared it's me!" I almost screeched so he wouldn't body slam me.

"Rosella what are you doing out of bed!?" He exclaimed leaning his head back to look at me.

"I was getting dressed. Then I wanted to go check on my father." I answer letting him go and sitting on the bed in front of him.

He looked at me and I saw his lips twitch up in an almost smile. "Um. You look good." He said bitting his bottom lip to keep from laughing. I smiled and he lost it.

"You should laugh more often. It looks great on you. And just so you know you are the one who got my clothes." I say with a smile as he cheeks slowly turned red and he looked away from me.

I reached out and turned his face back towards me. I pressed my lips to his. He reached up grabbing my hips and pulling me into his lap. His tongue traced my bottom lip as I parted them to allow entrance. I felt his smile as he pulled back.

"How did you know? I mean it's very obvious that I just grabbed random clothes. But how did you know that I got them?" He asked still smiling at me.

"Because you got under clothes too. If Axel had gotten them he wouldn't have gone near that drawer." I replied with a smile.

"Okay. I guess I'm going to have to learn how to match clothes. Do you want to go see your father now?" He asked standing up.

"Yeah let's go. You said Axel spent the night with him?" I asked as he reached for my hand. Jared nodded with a small smile. "I wonder why?" I whispered to myself.

Jared opened the door and we stepped into the hall. "Rose? If you don't mind my asking, why do you limp? What happened since the accident?" Jared asked surprising me.

"Well um. I don't exactly want to talk about it." I say trying not to remember what had happened.

"I understand but I need to know. Please see my side of this. If I was the one with a permanent limp that showed up after an accident wouldn't you be asking me the same questions?" Jared asked and I nodded looking down the hall to see Axel walking towards us.

"Axel!" I screamed out earning more than a few stares. Axel raised his hand and waved. He walked towards us a little faster.

"This conversation is not over yet." Jared whispered into my ear. I look up with a smirk as Axel stops in front of us.

"How is Dad?" I ask before he can say a word.
