"Wake up! I don't have all day!" Serena heard someone trying to wake her up. "Serena wake up!" She now heard annoyance then, someone grabbing her by her ankles and tugging her off of her bed.
Serena's eyes shot open to see a familiar dark figure and skeleton hands letting go of her ankles. She couldn't believe what she saw standing above her. "What the hell?!" She looked up at the Reaper that stared down at her with yellow owl-like eyes.
She quickly got up and tried to understand why a reaper was in her room.
"Oh, would you stop looking like a deer in the headlights." The Reaper looked at Serena for a brief moment before looking at his make-shift watch that appeared to have an hourglass in the middle. "Do you mind? I'm kind of on a tight schedule." He added looking back up at her.
"What do you want?" Serena questioned as she looked around her room for some sort of clue that would probably give her an idea.
"Ugh! You would think that the light finder would have told you how to do your job. I got a page from the man upstairs that states that since your grandma is dead that you're taking over her job." He explained as he reached into his black cloak to show her his old 1998 pager.
"Wait, WHAT?!!" Serena looked at the Reaper with wide eyes. "You're telling me that my grandma was able to see the dead?"
The Reaper started to laugh, "No she was able to see the living. "
"How was I supposed to know these things apparently I haven't seen her since I was five or six?"
"Well, congratulations. You know now." The Reaper chuckled as he searched his other pocket.
"Can you give me a hand I can really use the guidance since I'm new to this." She said not realizing how bad that statement sounded.
"Okay girly as long as you're not asking me for dating advice." He chuckled looking at what she was wearing. "You best get ready. Your Granny is going to need your help finding the light."
Serena sighed as she walked toward her closet looking for something decent to wear. "How am I going to help her find the light?" She asked as she changed into a pink button up dress. Once she felt she was ready she stepped out of her closet and saw that the Reaper was looking down at his pager.
"Sorry, I have to bounce." The Reaper waved before vanishing only leaving a flimsy business card that fell to the ground.
Serena shook her head as she bent down to pick up the business card. She looked at it and started to laugh. How is anyone supposed to take him seriously with that name? She thought to herself as she looked it over again.
The card read:
Recently departed, no problem, I'll show you where you belong for a price.
- Grimmy the Reaper
Serena put the business card in her wallet and walked out of her room. Where the hell am I supposed to start? She asked herself remembering what Grimmy had told her about the fact she needed to help her grandma find the light.
That was when she heard her cell phone buzz on her nightstand. She had a text message from an unknown number. Kid,her spirit is where you left her-GR
Serena thought about it and knew that she would have to be careful going to the shop where she left her grandma because it might raise suspicion of a cop. She knew that this was not going to be an easy task but she knew one thing for sure. She needed answers.
