Jasper was not dumb, his abilities mixed with how well he knew his mate had put him on edge. Alice had corned him that morning about the history lesson and the implications of the subject. Though he hadn't expected anything to happen so fast.

Joan's emotions had been rather calm that morning. She was having a good morning. Though the second the word Spitfire had been mentioned her nerves had peaked. He turned his head slowly to look at her. Try and coax her out of her past. Though her eyes were glossed over and she was sat still. Too still for it to be anything normal. He reached out to hold her hand, as the separated tables gave him limited access to her, stumped on what to do. And most importantly, how to get her out of the class.

He knew Carlise had told the school about Joan's anxiety. And he hoped that if he could bring this up discretely to the teacher he could get her out of the class and home. But this would be his biggest problem. He raised his hand hoping to gain the teacher's attention. Slowly, this worked as she turned her head towards him.

"Yes, Mr Hale?" The teacher asked an amount of annoyance on her face. World War Two seemed to be this teacher's favourite topic and his interrupting obstructed her chance of sharing this love.

"I'm sorry but Joan's not feeling too well. Could I please escort her to the nurse?" Jasper asked trying to maintain the southern charm he was known for. He was certain this was the first time some of the class had ever hear him speak. Therefore, he was not surprised when the class turned around to look at him. Though he tried to maintain his focus on his mate. The teacher took one look to Joan before noticing her distress.

"Yes. Go ahead." The teacher sighed watching as Jasper supported Joan as she was still stuck somewhere in her memories at this time. He walked her normally to the outside of the classroom where he was met by both Alice and Rosalie.

Jasper could not quite understand the depth of the relationship between Joan and Rosalie but the two were as tight as thieves and she brought out the best in the love of his life. So he never objected. Rosalie held the keys to Emmett's Jeep in her hand which she quickly slid into the back pocket of his jeans before taking the other side of Joan.

Together they walked Joan towards the Jeep with Alice following quietly behind them. The car was quickly unlocked before Joan was placed carefully inside. Jasper turned towards both Rosalie and Alice letting the worry etch his face for a moment or two.

"We've already called both Carlisle and Esme. Carlisle's let the school allow you both to come home early and Esme's waiting to help you get her inside and situated." Alice explained her eyes staring into Jasper's. He knew she was aware of what was going to happen but did not know if she was aware it was as bad as it was appearing to be.

"Let us know you get home safe and that Joanie's okay. I'll come see her when we get home later. I would come now. But she needs you most." Rosalie stated her eyes transfixed on Joan who sat in the passenger's seat without moving. If it was possible she would be crying at the sight of the girl she called her younger sister.

"Of course. I'm going to get her away from here now. You'll bring her stuff later right?" Jasper stated knowing that she had a manual in her backpack she would want later. Once receiving a nod from both girls he practically jumped into the driver's seat and sped off.

The ride back to the house had been silent though what should have taken nearly fifteen minutes was over in five. Jasper carried Joan into the house and straight into their bedroom. Esme had set the room up in a way which included all of Joan's comfort things. A blanket lied on top of the bedding, her favourite books were placed on the left bedside cabinet and wartime songs played softly in the background. He placed Joan carefully on the bed before sitting down in front of her.

It must have been another fifteen or so minutes before Joan began to almost respond to her environment. She jolted almost if she was violently moving in her dream before her eyes almost sprung open, despite not really being closed. The cover appearance she was upholding whilst at school shattered. On the bed sat his mate in her true form. Her blonde hair lay down just past her shoulders and the freckles on her face reappeared. It was only seconds after this had happened before she sprung towards Jasper clutching tightly to him.

He muttered soothing words to her along the lines of "Darling, it's okay. It's over now. You're okay and you're with me." He repeated this for almost an hour before she slowly detached herself from him. He had prepared himself for what was to happen next. However, whenever it happened the outcomes always surprised and amused him at the same time.

The Joan that sat back was not the side he was used to seeing. She sat with a mischevious smirk on her face and her eyes were a deep copper colour. The exact colour of the copper bullets fired from the planes during WW2. A throaty chuckle was released from this side of Joan.

"Well, 'ello Jasper. Long time no chat" Came quite possibly the thickest Scottish Accent he had ever heard. Joan's normal accent was not as thick quite possibly from all the time spent in America.

"Sargent. I wondered when you'd make an appearance"

"Ah, laddie, even better that I pop out to say hello" 'Sargent' then continued. Sargent was much like Joan just being a more bashful and mischevious version. Quite possibly the Joan before the plane crash in 1945. Sargent also had a much more violent streak though this had only been seen when someone had attacked the family.

"Yes, I suppose so"

"No signs of Major then? I was kinda hoping to say hi to him. Everyone knows that the night is most blissful when it's me and major" Sargent stated sending a small wink his way. This was something, he had come to expect from Sargent. A much more flirty version of Joan and though she sometimes spoke like this to him, Sargent was much more open.

"Nope, just you and I and I'm hoping Joan will come back soon" Jasper reasoned eager to get his Joan back

"Oh, she's not far. I'm justing giving her a little more time to piece herself back together whilst I roam a little bit. It's excruciating to be trapped in the back of her self-conscious and under that stupid cover appearance. Urgh, boring!" Sargent complained before stopping herself from speaking again. "Though it would seem as though its time Joan wants to come back. It was wonderful seeing you again you hunk of a being. Love you bye" Sargent uttered before her eyes closed. When they next opened her eyes were the amber colour he had come to expect from the animal drinking vampire before they shifted to a bluey-grey colour she remembered from her human life.

"Jazz?"

"Joan?"

"Yeah love, it's me"

Author's note:

So I just wanted to put a little more on the characters in this. Of course in the last few chapters that Joan has got a bit of  anxiety and struggles with dealing with her past. I also thought to create the character of Sargent which is the surpressed parts of her personality. Created to mirror the Major. Well that's my idea. Please comment if you would like to say anything at all.

Thanks for reading
