Joan hadn't seen her family move this fast in a really long time. Honestly she wasn't sure if she'd ever seen her adoptive mother move this fast. The group of five vampires were almost invisible to the eye with how fast they were moving. They had reached the not very humble looking house in minutes from the clearing they had been at, a clearing of which took them half an hour to walk to on foot.
Yet during this entire time, as they waited for Edward and Isabella to join them, Joan had yet to feel any of her normal anxiety. She was rather on edge but for a different manner. It was almost as if she was waiting for them to plan their next move of attack and as though she was waiting for war to be announced. This lack of anxiety had not gone unnoticed however, for her ever attentive mate had also felt the change in the immortal. And when they returned to the house he waited to feel even the slither of the emotion he normally associated to his nervous mate. Yet there was nothing.
"Jo-Jo, princess is that you?" He questioned as his eyes locked onto hers. He was searching for the copper colour he knew meant that her alter ego had taken over. There was nothing but he was still not convinced.
"It's me Jazz I promise." She replied as she held eye contact proving that she was in fact still in control as her eyes remained the golden colour that matched his own. Though he was still worried on her behalf, for if she was to snap and enter a catalytic state of anxiety he wasn't sure how he would be able to help her in this moment for everyone else seemed to be more focused on the human girl.
Though he didn't get much more time to dwell on that for eventually Edward burst through the door Isabella at his heels but slightly confused. She became more confused as she met the silent room which held the other seven vampires. It wasn't unusual for them to be silent but it still freaked the human out. They probably wouldn't admit that a big part of that was done on purpose.
"I'll drive Bella south..." Edward had started though his thought process was interrupted.
"No son, they'll know you won't leave Bella, it'll be too obvious." Carlisle spoke he had his point Joan had to admit but wasn't overly fond of what idea they would come up with instead.
"I've seen it, me and Jasper will drive Bella." Alice's sentence was definitive but it made Joan feel unsettled just Jasper and Alice. She knew nothing would happen between the pair that wasn't her concern. But if it was the pair of them it would mean her and Jasper would have to separate. They hadn't been separated in over 50 years and she wasn't sure how to take this idea or prospect. What if something went wrong whilst they were separated and she never got to see him again. Reluctantly all members of the family agreed to this and as clothing was chucked at an even more reluctant Rosalie and herself Joan found the situation rather eery. She knew she would be on the distraction squad, she could literally make herself look and smell like Isabella it was their best party trick. She could also almost sound identical to the human but they hadn't heard her talking so that wasn't the problem.
Before she could get around to changing her appearance an arm grabbed onto her own.
"Be safe Joanie, we will come back together." The familiar voice brought her a sense of calm but also a sense of dread. She didn't want to be separated from him.
"As if the first time we're being properly separated in 50 years is because of some psycho vampire, they couldn't even keep us apart on the eve of our wedding." Joan replied her anxiety trying to edge it's way in yet she still felt that comfort and didn't know what to do with herself regarding it, but she opened it with welcome arms and wished for it to stay around after they had dealt with this problem.
