VENICE, ITALY.

I banged the door shut behind me and stuffed my hands into my coat pocket. It was really windy in Venice, but the last wanted thing I wanted was to stay with Ali. He has been acting strangely lately, well since we got married actually- but today......it was too much. He had been smashing every smash-able thing he could see in the hotel suite. And he just sits, I ask him what is wrong but, he ignores me or tell it's nothing, when it's definitely something.

He started being resentful even before we got to the airport, I decided to ignore him. But now, couldn't take it anymore, so I left.

My eyes meeting the beautiful city night lights, and what annoyed me the most was he didn't try to stop me from leaving.

Our driver left for home, so I visited the grand canal of Venice. The beautifully lighted canals shining brightly, I sat at the edge of the wharf. The subtle noise of the water buses, against the still water was everything.

I heard a horn, indicating that a boat was about to arrive, I rose and started walking away but I heard the discordant noise of the horn coming from the vaporetti(water bus).

"hello!" the only person I could see said. It was a guy that looked like he was in his mid-thirties, he definitely looked Italian, and his accent was washed up with a little British.(but his gelled hair confirmed it)

"hey" I replied, scrunching my eyes at the bright light.

"Want a ride? I'm going to Piazza San Marco (St. Mark's Square)" he said running his hand through his hair, removing it from his face.

"No I'm good here, but thank you." I said turning to leave again.

"Can I at least know the name of the beautiful lady that stands before me?" He asked smiling.

"Layla, you?"

"Maffeo, I'm going for some coffee want to join?"he asked stepping off the water bus and onto the wharf.

"No thanks, it's getting late, my husband must be looking for me" she said, she suddenly just felt some hope that maybe he was looking for her.

"My offer still stands, tomorrow, I'll be here, waiting for you" He said still persisting. Who I'm I kidding he probably won't care if I was convicted and sent to jail for ten years!!

"You don't have to wait, let's go." I said and I could swear I saw a sparkle in his teeth, because of how pearly white they were.

***********

"So what is a beautiful lady like you doing at this time of the night?" He asked sipping his cuppa.

"I'm having a rough time". I closed my eyes, sighed, and then rubbed my temples." A very, very rough time." I added.

"Well sometimes in marriage you just have to take some deep breaths, we go in, but then we forget breath out forgetting the freedom and relief of breathing out, even if you really love that person."

"So you're saying we need space?" I asked actually interested in what he was saying.

"Yep"

"But that obviously can't happen since we're on our honey moon."

"Nope, this talk was your breathing out, so you're pretty much good to go, but you know some people need to breath out for days if not weeks, but some special ones only a second will do the job"
