Chapter 5 - More Clues
I wake up with sunlight shining on my face. I blink a couple times and look at the sky. I expected to wake with the sound of an arrow again. But I didn't. There's no arrow and no Legolas. I go sit up straight and look around. Weird. He probably has some duties to do.
I climb higher in the tree and jump on the highest branch. I look at the sky with my head just above the leafs of the tree. I can see The Long Lake, Esgaroth and of course Erebor. It's so beautiful here.
I hear a noise so I look down. I can't see the ground so I jump down a few branches. I don't see anything what can make that noise.
It's like a soft whisper. Maybe it's someone speaking to me. But who?
I listen better. 'Prepare.' That's the only word I hear.
Prepare for what? And who was that? I do recognise the voice. But I can't figure out who it belongs to. I listen again. The voice is gone. That was weird.
Now I hear something again. But no voice. It's someone running. I recognise the light steps, Legolas.
When he stops in front of the tree I send an arrow to him saying: 'You're late.'
I can see him smiling. 'Fathers.' he sends back.
'I was born in Mirkwood.' I send him his second clue.
He pulls the arrow with the clue out of the tree. 'Thank you.' he sends.
'What was with your father?' I send and watch Legolas as he goes sit down.
'Nothing special.' I get back.
'Seriously?' I send.
'You don't believe me?'
'No, I don't.'
'He's just angry.'
'Why?'
'Me being away all the time.'
'I think he worries.'
'My father? Worrying?'
'Yeah. It's a dad thing.' I hardly got that on the arrow.
'Did your dad worry?'
'All the time.' I just actually told him something else about me. That was not smart. But who cares. It's a game, right?
I look at Legolas. I can just see him between the leafs of the tree.
He just pulled the last arrow I shot out of the tree. 'I should go dad's worrying.'
I smile. 'Laterz.' I send and follow him as he walks away.
I can see he notices someone is watching him. He turns around and points his arrow at the bush I'm hiding in.
'Don't worry it's just me.' I say and come out of the bush.
'Why were you following me?' he asks.
I hesitate. 'I was... walking... in the forest when I saw you. I was surprised to see you here. So... I wanted to know what you were doing here.' I lie and smile. I hope he believes me. But I don't think so.
'Well, I'm just going to my father.' he says.
I still don't think he believes me. 'Okay, I'll walk with you.' I say and we walk to The Woodland Realm.
