Recollections of Events Thus Far

**Solar Note: Alright, so I was asked kindly by a fellow reader of yours to post a summary of what's happened thus far to serve as a refresher. Considering I haven't done one since like the beginning, this one turned out pretty long and ended up getting a part of its own xD. Anyway, I hope that you've enjoyed the first 40 story parts of this book and will stick around for Ep. 40 (which will be up very shortly!) and beyond :3.**

Previously on Descent of Darkness: After having their Magus Secundus exam interrupted by the arrival of Yuta and Ren, Lei and co. returned to Nine Petal Academy only to witness the a pillar of darkness render the sky. This pillar was an 'Erebus' a beam of concentrated darkness containing beings from another dimension. These creatures known as 'Beings of Abyss' as well as 'Umber Ones' unleashed chaos upon the land. That day many students lost their lives trying to contain the creatures from spreading all over Xeleria. Lei himself fell to one of these creatures, a strange black leopard-panther-like creature which seemed to be in pain.

Adela upon hearing that Lei's light was flickering, abandoned her duty as priestess and ran off to save him using the excuse that he was a vital part of the Xianian prophecy. When she finally encountered him at a mountain nearby her nation's border with Kyuu Seishin, she saw the large feline but it seemed to be in even greater pain. Its roars seemed to call out for her, yearning for salvation. It didn't take long for her to figure out the cat was Lei who had inexplicably been turned into an 'Umber One'. The cat turned back into Lei, but the young man still wasn't completely himself. He proceeded to attack her as well as the rest of his friends who had gathered in their search to find him. Luckily, Wanikiya, Iah, and Zelde managed to stop his berserk stage. 

Yet, the problems didn't end there. When Lei opened his eyes, he found himself in a prison cell and was greeted by none other than Eien, second prince of Kyuu Seishin. Eien revealed to him that he was to act as his lawyer and that he was to be put on trial for what had occurred in the Xianian-Kyuu Seishinian border. If he should lose the case, then Lei was to be put to death as he would be seen as too much of a danger for society. Luckily for Lei, Eien managed to convince the Supreme Magic Council using unorthodox methods, that Lei's new dark powers presented a low risk.

After departing from the capital of the 3rd Xelerian Empire, Trono, Lei, Adela and Eien set off for Miha whose king had requested a lightning and wind mage to train his oldest daughter and middle son. Upon arriving in Miha, Lei saw that Iah and Nyima were also summoned forth to help train the leader of Miha to train the heirs of the Huo Clan. While everything went fine at first, they had to cut their training of the children short as a mysterious person was collecting cores of the remaining beings of Abyss. Fearing that Lei would be a target, Kadriya had Lei and his team leave Miha through an ancient tunnel connecting it with neighboring Xian. Yet, even that wasn't without problems as a vampire girl attacked the quad with the intention of sucking them dry of their blood.

Using a plan devised by Lei himself, the four managed to defeat the vampire rather easily. However, the vampiress wasn't going to go down so easily. Her essence shook the entire tunnel shattering the ancient stones around them and causing the northern section to collapse in on itself. Luckily, Iah managed to hold on just long enough for him and his teammates to evacuate the tunnel. Now the four find themselves on route to the capital of Xian to spend the night before Lei and Nyima head off with Iah to Mina where they'll be teleported back to Wahkan to join the others in determining who will represent the Wahkanian nation in the upcoming international magic games, the Mahoulympics.
