Dear Daddy

    I miss you daddy. Mommy said I could send you letters. I know you have only been gone a week but I wish you could come back. I don't care if the country needs you. We need you more. Can't you just come back for a little while longer?

   Yesterday was my birthday, and I turned six. I had my whole class over and mommy said she never wanted to have a boy. But you always say you want a son to take fishing. But when you get back will you teach me to fish? I'd like to try it too.

   I want a brother I can take care of when someone bullies him. I can be brave too. You don't have to do all of it.

   I wish you were here with me. Mommy says six is an important age for a girl to have her father around. I don't really know what she means but I think she is right.

    And I haven't been sleeping well lately. I don't have you to tuck me in. Mommy has been doing it, but's not the same. I don't tell her that though, because I don't want to hurt her feelings.

    Don't forget that you pinky promised you would come visits as soon as possible.
