Part Two
I didn't stop running. The car that killed Natalie went back for me, so I stayed off the streets. I knew that I had to go back to them eventually; I couldn't get to my sister just through alleys. But for now the safety of darkness was my best friend.
My body felt strange, like it wasn't my own. Natalie actually dying in front of me just felt like a dream and it made me feel sick and warm inside. So of course I threw up next to a garbage can, because I couldn't get to it fast enough.
After wiping my lips with my shirt, I saw a shadow under me. Instead of freezing like a coward, I turned around to fight off whoever was following me. If they had a gun or anything of the sort, wouldn't have they shot me by now?
But it was a mistake.
I didn't see who was following me. A bag was thrown over my head, blinding me. I got kicked in the stomach and I dropped on the ground, wailing like a baby. I couldn't even beg for my life, the pain was brutal. I could barely breathe.
Whoever was doing this kicked me again, then once more in the head and everything went dark.
When I woke up again, it was still dark. The scratchy rough bag over my head was still there. My hands were tied behind my back and I was sitting on a flat surface, like a table. My head hurt, the pain pounded against my skull like a hammer. I was also very disoriented. There were voices all around me but I couldn't make sense of what they were saying.
"Is this one ready?" a man said.
"No, take the one on the right," a woman said. "She's been awake for a while now."
The table trembled as they took whoever was on the right. It was definitely a she because I heard her sobbing when I heard her bag land in front of me. I was very smart. This was all starting to make sense in my head. They must have captured others, but what they did with us was something I was still trying to figure out.
"HELP ME!" the girl grabbed on to me and tried to pull me with her. Others joined and must have pulled her away, but not before alerting the others that I was awake, too. I kind of jumped when the girl grabbed me; I hadn't expected it. I was very jumpy tonight.
"Yo, this one is awake. Should we spice it up and put them both in the cage?"
CAGE?!
The bag over my head was ripped off. I shut my eyes quickly; there was a lot of light over me. I could now hear a crowd of people all cheering, similar to that of a football stadium, only smaller.
Slowly, I opened my eyes and everything adjusted.
There were about ten others next to me, all with bags over their heads. In front of me were the men and women in charge. They looked like a punk rock band. One had the biggest Mohawk I had ever seen, another was shaved with piercings on her head. They were outcasts.
