1. Write a short story (250 words) where something bad happens, but it both prevents something worse from happening, and benefits humanity at large, at the same time. You may focus the writing itself on the event or characters within your story.


2. Write a short piece (250 words) based on the concept of misconceptions


The soft grass and giant green trees and bushes that once was as orange as the sunset, rapidly they brown as they burn till their nothing but ash. Nothing but yelling and screaming and the cries from the people who lost hope. The barking and hissing and squawking of animals around the world, worried and anticipating what was to come. The ones who haven't given up on the world, haven't given up in their belief, praying to their gods in hopes to stop what was to come, the time everyone had dread.


The prophecy has yet to be completed. The Oracle warned them of this moment, warned them of the consequences of their actions of which they inflicted on this poor earth, but they didn't listen. They kept throwing trash in the oceans and putting pollution in the air that we breathe. They dig deep in the earth, causing unattractive pores to show. They killed the home of many animals.


Wood was collected, water and food were stored, entertainment was prepared and clothes already in the shelter, their shelter, which they had no time to make sure their family could be in. The only way that they could hope to survive this end. But all is lost.


Outside, amiss the chaos, only a few people roam the streets, hand in hand, chanting their farewells and old dreams for their lives that could've been. There were no way out of this, they had learned long ago, but selfishly tried to ignore while the world decayed around them. Finally, they accepted their fate, their destiny, the prophecy. Their world had to end, for the world to survive.
