CHAPTER 2: Taking Flight Requires Wings (part one)

After the execution of Tooru Hagakure and Ochako jumping in, we were left in tense silence. I couldn't believe three people got killed on only the second day in this.. This death trap. I wanted to go home and hide. "Ochako!!" Kirishima screamed, tears springing up. Momo covered her mouth with her hands as Jirou patted her back. "Monokuma, you didn't need to kill Ochako too!"

This 'game' as Monokuma called it, shouldn't even exist. What was the point? To make us want to kill ourselves? "Guess I didn't." Monokuma didn't even look back at Ochako. "But she's not dead, you know. Anyways, I'm going back to the school and you all should too! See ya!" He left after saying all that.

Without hesitation, Kirishima rushed to Ochako's side and shook her body a bit. "Wake up! Wake up! Wake up.." He turned to look at us, crying. "Ochako won't wake up."

Bakugou walked over and picked up Ochako. "Let's go, nerds." He started to head towards the elevator. Once inside, Bakugou looked at how frozen we were. "What?" Bakugou was carrying Ochako bridal style and blood seeped out of her and into Bakugou's hands. The blood in Bakugou's hands dripped through his fingers. It was overall a horrifying picture. Later, I would most likely find it would be hard to get the image to not haunt me.

"How are you cool with all of this?!" Denki fumed, and no one tried to calm him down. "And you even picked up Ochako like it was nothing! Do you think you're above us because news flash! You aren't! Taking Ochako with us should be a group decision, and you aren't the leader here!"

"Oh yeah? Then who is?" Bakugou snarled back. "If you damn nerds can't even handle a dead body, then how do you expect to survive a killing game?! And I declare myself leader! There!"

"You can't just-" Denki huffed in frustration. He hastily glanced around the room with indescribable intensity. "Can someone back me up here?!"

"Kacchan, I think it's best to let the group decide-" I try to pitch in, but Bakugou cuts me off.

"Keep out of this, Deku."

Denki stomped up to Bakugou and jabbed a finger in his chest. "Do things ever go in those ears of yours?! Group decision, not a 'you' decision!"

"I'm the leader now so shut up!"

"You aren't!"

"Yeah! I am!"

"No!"

"Yes!" The argument between Bakugou and Denki continued on, and I could see Mineta trembling in tears as he took pictures of the girls wearing skirts, and looked under them. He got hit, of course and I sighed.

"Having an argument is not going to help anybody!" Ojiro spoke abruptly, his loud voice easily projecting in the loud gym. To be honest, I had completely forgotten where we were in the chaos. God, I just hope this is a nightmare I can wake up from.

"He's right," Tsuyu agreed, raising a finger to press gently against the side of her mouth. "Ochako-chan is losing more blood the more we stay here not doing anything, kero."

Kaminari tch'd as he moved to leave. As he passed by Bakugou he said, "If she dies it's on you. Got that?"

Bakugou sent a fiery glare in response. "Outta my face, dunce."

I could see Kaminari visibly try to restrain himself from throwing a punch or two. His fists shook at his sides, and for a second, I was completely prepared to fight him in Bakugou's defense. I took a step forward instinctively, causing Kaminari to glance over at me. "We don't need any more deaths, Kaminari-san."

As soon as he heard my words, he froze and his posture stiffened. He adverted his eyes to look anywhere else but me. I.. I felt strangely powerful as I observed him. Then, a thought struck me. "That- That wasn't a threat by the way, Kaminari-san! I'm sorry if you took it that way! U-Uhm, I-I'll get going now!" I practically squeaked out and instantly ran out.

I ran quickly to my dorms and slammed the door behind myself. Taking a moment to rest and catch my breath, I rested my back against the door. I slid down into a sitting position. "I hope I didn't scare him," I mumbled, knowing full well I most likely did judging by how he reacted. "Am I that intimidating?. . . I hope I'm not."

It would be helpful if I was, though. No one would want to mess with me, and I would be safe, I thought. After realizing what I just said to myself, I shook my head. "No! No, I don't want to be intimidating! God. . . I wonder what mom would say if she could see me now. I hope she's okay. . ."

I pressed my knees against my chest and hugged them as tightly as I dared. It wouldn't be good if I got injured in this place. . . Like Ochako. "All right. We'll just have to work hard to get out of this place so no one will die," I decided out loud. Then, I deflated. "I hope we can at least achieve that. . ."

Are you punishing us, God? Did we do something to wrong you? What sins did we commit to deserve this kind of treatment? Please, answer me. . . Alas, my mental pleas were not heard per usual. It didn't matter, though. It wasn't like I was expecting an answer in the first place.

"Are we ever going to get out of this place?" I wondered miserably.
