CHAPTER 1: The Stars Above Us (part two)

"This letter seems to have blood on it!" Iida hummed thoughtfully, inspecting it closely. "There also seems to be initials on the back of the letter."

"What, really?! I can't believe the killer left such obvious clues!" Ochako's brows furrowed. "But.. Wouldn't that make it obvious who did it?"

"Yes, really." Iida nods to confirm it, and then reads the initials out loud. "As I inspected it closer, it just reads the word the."

Ochako leaned over his shoulder, and she seemed to be tense. "Yeah, I guess it does! Deku-kun, are you seeing this?"

As I going to reply, the door suddenly slammed open. "Whoops, that was accidental! Sorry, guys- and gals!" Kirishima walked in, running the back of his neck in an embarrassed manner. "What are you guys so hunched over for? That'll hurt your back!"

"We found a letter," I notify Kirishima, and try to explain it. "Well- I found it and they inspected it- I mean.."

Uraraka patted my back, and I froze up and shut my mouth immediately. "You're muttering again, Deku-kun."

"You found evidence?! That's manly!" Kirishima cheered for us. A few minutes pass as we all talk. "Hey, why don't Bakugou and I join your group?" The redhead looks behind him. "Bakugou? Where'd you go? Did you guys see Bakugou come in with me at all?"

Suddenly, Bakugou walks in. "What are you doing with these losers, Kirishima? Let's go, I found evidence."

Kirishima greets him happily, and it reminds me of a puppy. I quickly shake my head to discard the thought, though. "You guys are so manly! I feel so useless, bro!"

"I won't tell you the evidence if you don't shut up," Bakugou growled, and Kirishima quickly quieted down. "I found opened poison in one of the fallen over cabinets- Oi Deku, who gave you permission to eavesdrop, huh?!"

I shove the letter in Ochako's hands. "I'm sorry, I'll go!" I then run off to investigate on my own. More evidence was shared with me and found, and suddenly an announcement was made.

"Ding dong, ding dong! Times up! It's time for the class trial! Please meet in the gym!" I had forgotten about all the technology placed around the school. Anyways..

The time for the class trial finally was here, and Monokuma himself was leading the way to the location we were supposed to send one of our own or ourselves to death. I wasn't paying attention to where we were going or when we arrived, my thoughts were somewhere else.

"This is where the class trial will be held!" Monokuma's voice rang, and I couldn't help shivering at the sinister tone. "Class trials are.." He explained how they worked. "Oh, and don't forget that if you get the murderer's identity wrong, you all die except them!" He laughed.

I wanted to cover my ears, close my eyes, and hope this was all a dream. I pinched myself, but nothing happened. No 'poof' and I was gone, no 'this killing game is a joke and Todoroki Shouto isn't actually dead', no one bursting in and saving us.. My clammy hands gripped my podium, and I took deep breathes to calm myself. In a minute or two, the debate had begun.

"I guess we should start on the murder weapon, huh?" Mina's nervous voice interrupted my thoughts. "It has to be a knife, right?"

A quiet murmur of agreement went around before I spoke up. "Actually, he might've been poisoned. Kacchan found a bottle of opened poison in a cabinet that had fallen over. I think that—"

"No one cares about what you think," Bakugou growled, taking over the conversation. "Stop making this shit complicated! It's the knife that killed him!"

My confidence almost left me, but I couldn't let these people die like this. "Kacchan, we need to think more than—"

"The evidence is right there! The half and half bastard died by knife in the head, Deku!" Bakugou slammed his hands down on his podium, angered by my words. "You think you're better than me?!"

"No, that's wrong! He was stabbed after he had already died!" It would be an understatement to say that I am completely terrified by Bakugou. He started to sweat as I explained why he was wrong. "He clearly died by poison because-"

Then, Ochako spoke up, although it was much more quiet than Bakugou and I's yelling competition. "Y-You know, he might've just accidentally thought poison was salt or something.."

"Y-Yeah!" Tooru spoke up. Sniffles suddenly resounded through the room and we all turned to face the shortest person. "Mineta? What's wrong?"

"I j-just can't b-believe-" Mineta keeps sniffling between each word, trying to not let his tears fall even though they already were. "-that w-we have to k-k-kill each o-other.." He paused, and wiped frantically at his eyes. "..Kill each other, y-you know!"

Monokuma slammed his paws onto the chair. "Shut up your whining, you big baby! The trial isn't going to go anywhere like this!" He fumed. Mineta continued to sniffle, causing Monokuma to get angrier with each passing second. "You're disobeying the headmaster! I'll have to make an example out of you!"

Denki spoke up for Mineta before Monokuma could do anything. "Hey, wait! I don't know about robots or cyborgs or teddy bears like you, but humans don't have a off button for their emotions!" Denki gestured to Mineta. "You can't just snap your fingers and it'll go away!"

"Yeah! Cut us some slack, we all just saw a dead body!" Sero agreed. "I mean, I've seen weirder considering my profession, but that's not the point."

"Fine! Just get to the trial already! Who murdered Todoroki Shouto! Get on it!" Monokuma demanded, and we followed his orders. Denki and Sero highfived, and Mineta looked grateful.

"M-My saviors!" Mineta cried to them, but everyone ignored him much to his dismay. Aoyoma let out a dramatic sigh, and everyone ignored him, too.

"We just need to figure out where everyone was when the guy was killed, and prove everyone innocent." Mina kept up her positivity. "Then we can just go home-"

"I don't think it'll be that easy," Ojiro objected. "Do we even know when his time of death was? Who was the last person to see him alive and who discovered his body?"

Shoji, who kept to himself like a few others, finally spoke up. "I think I might know."
