Her Name Was Sena

Chapter 3

After the meal, Sena headed into her room and collapsed on her bed. "Damn, this dress can really kill you.." She quickly tossed aside the dress and opened the large wardrobe. The bright light of the many dresses shined on her face almost blinding her. There was no doubt that Sena was not accustomed to such beautiful yet uncomfortable clothing, and now she it would be hell for her at every special event.

"WHY IS THERE NOTHING BUT DRESSES?! Do they not realize that someone can suffocate in them?" She grabbed a comfortable looking night-gown and washed the make up off her face.

She walked out of the bathroom, and sat on her bed. "Living in such a large place... is really lonely.." Sena mumbled as she gazed at the large empty room. Sena ran full speed as she heard a knock on the door, "COMING!!....Oh, princess Lilly!" There stood in front of her stood a doll-like girl.

"Can I talk to you?" Sitting at a table by the large window of Sena's room, they drank tea together."I was so happy when I heard you were going to be here!"

Sena smiled at her comment. "Thank you, I'm flattered that I left a jaw-dropping impression! Haha~" Princess Lilly then laughed as well.

"If you don't mind.. Can you tell me why you became an assassin?"

Sena's face became solemn, "I wanted to become necessary. Before I joined XOLA, I lived on the streets. No one would look at me, they wouldn't go near me unless I was in their way, I was just trash that was tossed aside. I had no reason to live, my very existence was a bother. I was alone and unwanted until Cyril came into view, he gave me a bed to sleep in and warm food to eat. He asked me to stick around and I did. I wanted to repay him, so I became an assassin. Protecting Strylis became purpose my in life. And so.. for the first time I had a purpose, something to live for." When she finished speaking, she noticed princess Lilly was crying.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't know mean to make you cry!!" Sena said as she flapped her arms around in panic, thinking what would keep Princess Lilly from crying. Sena was puzzled and nervous as she watched the young lady sobbed.

Princess Lilly suddenly got up and hugged her. "You don't need to hide your feelings! It's okay to cry! You're not alone..."

Hearing that Sena's heart raced, 'What should I do.. At this rate I might actually cry! The hell?! Pull yourself together, Sena!'

Crash! It was one of the windows. Sena quickly stood in front Princess Lilly. A woman stood in front of her, "What a beautiful story... I'm sure if I was human, I could've cried~" Sena glared at her, "You, eavesdropping is rude!" The woman laughed. "It isn't if you're trying to find some information!" The lady said as she swung a sword at Sena, who swiftly dodged while Princess Lilly was in her arms and retaliated with a heel kick in the face, in time before the woman began to swing again. "That hurts..." She said as she touched her bruised cheek.

"What do you want with princess Lilly?!" Sena yelled leaping farther away from the woman.

The equipped woman gave a grin as she licked the sword with a lustful grin. "I'm not here for that human.. I'm here for you. Aren't you the one at the party? The one who killed that little intruder in the dark?"

Sena stared at her in shock. "You..You were watching?" The woman laughed, "Of course, I did.. It excites me to see a battle..." She replied with a devilish smirk.

'What the hell? Even I'm not that crazy about fighting..' Princess Lilly loosens her grip on Sena. The poor girl shocked in fear had fainted. Sena held tightly onto the princess, assuring her safety.

"But you ended it so soon.. Merely catching his blade with your hand and stabbing his vital spots..Honestly, a fight should be slower so you can take the time to inhale in all the pain...-RAAAHH!!! Now try and dodge this!" The crazy female charges at her, this time the woman moved at top speed. With no time to move, Sena kicked the hilt of the sword, sending it flying and landing right beside them.

"Hah! I've got you now!" Not even wincing when her sword was kicked out of her hand, the woman pulled out a small blade. Sena grabbed the sword next to her and deflected the attack. Both retreated away from each other.

"You're pretty fast to be able to block my attack while holding a limp body. You are truly a formidable opponent. But you're still lacking!"

"If you're not here for Princess Lilly.. Then, what are you after?"

"I was told by my master to observe you and your progress in XOLA.. It seems that he is quite intrigued by you. I don't understand.. a mere human such as you.. I can't accept it!!!" The woman sprang into the air and lunged the small blade at Sena.

Sena easily parried it with the sword in her hand. The sound of the swords clashing against each other, the cries as it slices the air. "If I am a mere human, what about you?!?" Sena said this time, she stabbed the woman in the stomach. The woman howled in pain as the blade went through her body.

"Me? I am Alida, a Rún of Night-Wald... But you humans call it a demon." The woman said with a smirk. Sena's stomach churned, did she hear that correctly? 'A demon..'  the words replayed in her head as she stood frozen in one spot. Feeling nothings but chills running down her spine, Sena stared at the woman. A part of her thought it was ridiculous, but a part of her feels as though the woman was telling the truth. 

        Alida, the Rún, suddenly withdrew her dagger, and placed her hand on her wound. "My visit is done.. I'll be back, assassin..." After she said that, the Rún disappeared from sight.

Sena's legs gave out, she collapsed into a sitting position as she held the princess in her hands. She was so confounded that she hadn't realized her face was breaking into cold sweats. "She's just trying to scare me!! I'm such an idiot to believe it!...Dammit.." Sena said as she started to lightly hit her head. Suddenly several knights burst inside the room, along with Leon and Vincent.

"Princess!!" They both yelled as they headed towards Sena.

"She's fine.. She just fainted from shock." Sena assured them and placed Princess Lilly on her bed with her arms quivering, she still hadn't got over about the Alida.

Leon grabbed Sena's arm, "What's wrong with you?" He asked.

She gently pulled away from him and stared at princess Lilly with extreme concern, "Sorry, I'm really not in the mood at the moment.." Sena said. She was extremely disappointed in herself, to be so preoccupied with such fantasies. 

        Standing by the bed, Leon, Sena, and Vincent were watching the palace doctor examine the princess.  It was essential for the doctor to check up on any of the royal family members even if their conditions is not serious. "The princess is perfectly fine, she'll wake up after a good sleep. Miss..Sena was it?.. I hope that this issue with the princess does not happen often when she is in your care. You should be more careful, since she is a fragile girl and also a princess." The doctor informed with quite a harsh tone.

Sena gazed down at the ground in shame, "I understand. I will be more serious with my work." Leon also glanced down, not because he was disappointed in her, or because he pitied her. With a glare in his eyes, he was just annoyed of hearing the same things that were said to Sena over and over again. To be looked down on, Sena did nothing to deserve such treatment. As the night becomes pitch-black, without another word, they all left princess Lilly in Sena's care for the night.
