"That was amazing," Max said breathlessly as I lay down beside her.

"Isn't it always?" I asked smugly, cuddling into her naked body.

"Well yeah, this was different though. You seemed more passionate then normal."

"I just realised how much I love you, how lucky I am to be with you," Truth was I had just gotten the ring that I was going to propose to her with. Max was my girlfriend and bestfriend, but I want her to be my wife.

Max chuckled, "So sappy," Then she kissed me softly. "But I love you too Raven, so much."

"I'm glad, now get some rest while I go do dinner."

"But if you leave it'll be cold," Max whined.

I laughed quietly, got up and grabbed our 4 year old golden retriever from the hallway before guiding him to the bed, "Cuddle Bailey, I'll come get you when it's done." I kissed her forehead before putting on sweatpants and sports bra.

Closing the door I went to the kitchen and turned on the radio quietly before getting the ingredients out. I was making her favourite creamy chicken and mushroom fettuccine and double chocolate brownies with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Tonight was the night I was going to propose to Max and I wanted it to be somewhat romantic, which is a little bit hard because romance doesn't normally come easy to me. Max and I have never been a romantic couple, we don't often go on romantic dates or anything like that, we just tend to do fun things. I love her and she loves me, but we don't need romantic dates or declarations to show that.

Max and I met about half way through our first year of university. I was studying architecture and design while she was studying engineering and mechanics. The circumstances under which we met weren't very good because she tripped and spilt coffee on my notes and design. Luckily I had just started the design so that wasn't a big deal, it was my notes that was more of a problem. Max was incredibly cute and it was obvious she felt bad so I forgave her pretty quickly. After that she insisted on buying me coffee well tea, I don't normally drink coffee because it makes my hands shake, then we saw each other at parties and soon enough we were talking everyday. On our first date we went to a shooting range, not your normal first date, but it was something we both liked so therefore worked for us. Now we had been together for just over 8 years.

I placed the food on the table and took the brownies out of the over before going to get Max.

"What's this for?" Max asked walking into the kitchen.

"No reason, just wanted to do something nice." I replied as we sat down to eat.

"This was great," Max complemented when we finished eating.

"Thank you, so I have some news."

"What is it?"

"Well, I made lead architect," I had been working towards this promotion for the last year and a half and had finally got it today.

Max jumped up and hugged me, "I'm so proud of you Raven, I knew you could do it."

After a couple of minutes I had gained the courage to ask her, "Max you keep my life interesting and fun but you also make me feel loved and supported everyday. You're pretty awesome and make me laugh a lot. I don't want to make this too sappy so I'll keep it short," I started before getting up and getting down onto one knee.

"I love you so much and you've already put up with me for 8 years so I was wondering if you would wanna get married?" I finished pulling out the ring. It was a simple black band with a row of small diamonds that sit diagonally across it. I was pretty sure she would like the ring, it was her style but it didn't stop me from being nervous about it.
