He is a monster

Sam waited for the inevitable fight. John looked off ... uneasy. Sam know by now that John knew about Cas.
How? Sam kept Wondering.

The click of the front door closing brought out new and old fears. Dean is home. John stood up ready for Dean.

"Dad?"  Dean said just a look to Sam and he knew.

" Dean there is something we have to talk about. It seems you are under a spell of the monster in the sea"

" He is not a monster. He didn't put any spell on me."  Dean said without hesitation and defensively.

" Then explain to me why you are so close to him. How come you can't see him for who he is"

" I don't know how you know about him but he is not dangerous. He can't hurt anyone." Dean suddenly remember something. "Dad if you are mad that I'm in love with a man you take that out on me but don't you dare hurt him! "

This was the first time Sam saw Dean stand up for himself against John but something was bugging Sam throughout this argument.

" It's not that he is a man but he is a monster, Dean. I saw how you looked at some men the same way you looked at women. I knew about you"

Thats when it clicked. This was never about Dean being bisexual but him loving someone John didn't like.

" You knew... Even if you say that Dad he is harmless. I never asked for anything and I would never will so just this once let me love someone"

John knew that Dean never asked for anything. He was a good son and a great soldier. Dean is his son and the thought of losing him to a monster like he lost Mary hurt him too much. He looked Dean in the eye to try to make him understand but the second he did he couldn't bring himself to take this away from him.

" ...fine, but I'll meet him first. And the second I think he is bad ...Dean" John saw dean's face covered in tears. How could he be so blind the only spell Dean was under was true love.

Sam never thought he get to see something like this. Dean was finally crying in front of John and all because John decided to take a leap of faith. Sam and Dean both knew John wasn't a bad father he just didn't know how to be a father and a hunter. John confused training a young hunter with protecting his sons alot but today he may have figured out how to be both.

That still didn't explain how John knew. John had walked in on one of the many conversation of Dean and Cas while making his way to the house.

Tomorrow John was going to meet Cas . Dean couldn't sleep all night. His father had given him a chance but what if something went wrong.
