Javan was outside pacing. His wife she was going have a cub. He hoped everything was alright. It was such a cold winter night too.

Then he heard crying. A midwife came out. Javan looked at her.
"It's a boy," she said.

Javan went into the room and saw his wife Sirbreina holding a newborn cub. "Hi Javan come over meet your son." Sirbreina said.

He came over and saw the small cub. His son was very small and wrapped in a warm blanket to shield him from the bitter winter cold of the mountains.

"He's perfect." Javan said.

"I'm still trying to think of a name for him." Sirbreina said.

"Let's name him Tygra." Javan suggested.

"That's perfect," Sirbreina said as she held her newborn son close. Tygra began to cry.  She began to nurse the cub.

"I cannot wait to tell the rest of clan and my friends in Thundera." Javan said.

"It would be nice for them to know," Sirbreina said.

"I'll let the clan know." Javan said.

Javan came out of the house. The whole tiger village was there. "Everyone I good news on this freezing cold night the heir of the tiger clan has been born, his name is Tygra," Javan said.

The tigers cheered.

Javan turned to one of the tigers. "I'd like you to go to Thundera and tell my friend King Claudius and his wife Leonara the good news," Javan said.

"Yes Javan," the tiger said.

Javan went back into the house and saw his wife holding their son smiling down at him.

He sat down next to the bed. "Javan, would you like to hold your son?" she asked.

"Yes I would," Javan said and took Tygra into his arms. Javan was surprised by how light Tygra was, it was like his son was nothing more than a feather.

Tygra felt warm and soft too. Javan held him close, it made him so happy to hold his son.  Tygra was sleeping or awake. It was hard to tell because his eyes were still yet to open.

The midwife placed Tygra in the cradle. Then Sirbreina got some much needed sleep.

The tiger Javan had sent made it all the way to Thundera. He entered the palace. "You're from the tiger clan is something wrong in the mountains?"  Claudius asked.

"No, your friend Javan has news of great joy, last night his wife Sirbreina gave birth to a healthy baby boy," the tiger said.

"That is great news," Leonara said.

"It is I send a message to tell Javan my wife and I will come in the spring to see the newborn heir of the tiger clan." Claudius said.

"Will do." the tiger said.

In the mountains Javan was rocking the cradle very gently to help his son fall asleep. Javan couldn't think of anything that could ruin this happy moment.

But soon Javan's happy moments with his new family would come to an end.
