julia grabbed her skirt off of her bed and slipped it on, leaving her white button up untucked and rolling up the sleeves just below her elbows. she sighed at the tie. oh, how she hated that black tie. as she slipped on her favorite black louboutin's, she wrapped her least favorite accessory around her wrist and looked at herself in the mirror.

"hm, not bad julia, not bad at all," she muttered to herself, then grabbed her school bag.

lee would be there any minute and she still had to grab something small for breakfast. the blonde walked into the kitchen only to be greeted by her mom, tia carter.

"hey, sweetie! are you ready for your first day of school as a junior?!" the sandy blonde asked as she held up a paper bag with julia's name on it.

she laughed at her and shook her head, then walked past her, "you already know i'm not. what's with the lunch, i'm not in primary school anymore, mom," she rolled her eyes as she searched the cabinets for a cereal bar.

tia was about to say something when lee came to julia's rescue. as soon as she heard lee's car horn she was out of the house as fast as lightning. she took off her shoes and ran down her driveway and jumped into the passenger side of lee's car.

"thank you so much," julia said breathlessly, grabbed lee's face, and kissed his cheek, "you are a lifesaver. my lifesaver."

"your mom acting crazy again?" he asked as he covered the small blush forming on his face.

"you have no idea, she keeps acting like everything's okay," julia shrugged, " i think she's one lunch sack away from a mental breakdown."

a few weeks ago, julia's dad left. no one knew why, he just walked out and hasn't called ever since. julia thought he was going through a midlife crisis. her mom was barely holding it together behind that perfect facade.

the two had pulled up to elle's house, five minutes later, elle had come out wearing her skirt from the ninth grade.

"don't say anything, okay? my pants ripped," she warned them as julia moved into the back and she climbed into the front.

"you should have back ups," lee stated as she shut the car door.

"my backups are at the cleaners," she defended.

julia leaned up front and looked at elle, "back up back ups?"

"these are my back up back ups," she answered hastily and playfully pushed julia and lee.

lee laughed as he drove down the street, "okay, okay, like cover up. i'm trying to drive."

julia leaned back in her seat with her arms spread across the backseats of the car. the warm california breeze flowed through her short hair.

lee looked at her from his rear view mirror and grinned, "how is it back there, princess?"

julia smiled at the sun, "i feel free."

the three pulled into the school parking lot with a rough stop from lee, "nice landing, ace," elle sarcastically commented.

"if you got your drivers license, you wouldn't have to put up my driving, now would you?" lee asked, eyebrows raised, and a goofy smile spread across his face, "julia doesn't complain."

"ah," she stopped him, "don't bring me into this."

"why would i do that if i have you as my personal chauffeur?" elle joked with lee, then brought up the fundraiser ideas, in which they had no ideas for at all.

the trio got out of lee's car, and started walking toward the school, when julia started to hear wolf whistles and laughing.

"everybody's looking at us," lee said, "i'm gonna revise, everyone is looking at you, elle."

that boy could make any girl go into panic mode. julia rolled her eyes at lee, who wasn't helping the situation at all, just making elle nervous.

"here," julia handed elle her bag, "twist it to where it'll cover your backside."

but before elle could do so, tuppen came up behind them and smacked elle's butt.

"what the hell, tuppen?" lee yelled angrily.

"it's fine lee, i got this," elle assured him.

then tuppen had to go and open his big mouth, "relax, tiny flynn," he taunted.

"how about i relax your face?" lee reacted without thinking and attempted to punch tuppen in the face, but he caught lee's fist and twisted his arm, "i did not think that through," lee groaned.

tuppen reared his arm back, ready to punch lee, but julia wasn't having it. she quickly got in front of lee just as noah flynn tackled tuppin to the ground.

"you okay?" she asked the younger flynn as she examined his knuckles, checking for bruising.

"i'm fine, princess," lee pulled his hand away.

he was clearly aggravated at noah for getting in the middle of his 'fight' with tuppin. the principal told noah, tuppen, and elle to go to his office.

lee looked at the back of noah's head and shook his head, "douchebag, he even gets credits for my fights."

julia patted lee on the back, "c'mon, let's get to class, wonder boy."

lee laughed and hung his arm around julia's shoulder as they walked to class together.
