Callum's POV:
After I calm myself down and I feel like she's taken her punishment, I go back down to the basement. She doesn't look at me. I open the door of the cage, and go to her. "Do you know why you were punished?" I ask her sitting at the edge of the bed. She stays silent and tears stream down her face. "Answer please Saphronia." I ask her.
"I'm sorry sir, you won't like my answer." She squeaks. "Say it anyway." I answer. "You will not be punished for telling me the truth." I tell her. "Maybe for the actions before the truth but not the truth." She still doesn't look at me, her eyes cast beneath her.
"No sir, I don't understand why I was punished." She tells me. "First, you did not listen to orders, secondly, you tried to escape. Then after, you again refused to listen to my orders." I tell her. She looks at me furiously.
"With all due respect sir, you never told me any orders about what I did, and I never tried to escape." She says looking me in the eye.
"Then why were you knocking things down?" I ask her irritated. She flinches. "I accidentally knocked a bottle over while sitting down..." she says looking down. "And the water, the lock?" I raise my eyebrow. "I didn't want you to hear me... I'm pee shy and I...." she trails off.
"You don't trust me enough to have it unlocked." I finish for her. She nods "yes sir." She says quietly. "I do not completely trust your story, however, I may have overreacted." I tell her. "As a compromise, you'll sleep in my room, in my bed." I answer. She tries to crawl back away from me and can't.
Why is she so cute? Part of me wants to turn back and say she doesn't have to, that I'm sorry and I was wrong. I can't. I move towards her and she flinches. I couldn't have scared her that bad that fast. She didn't know her mom, her dad was loving and her brother moved out not soon after she was born. The only explanation for her fear is....
"Who is he?" I ask quickly. She is cowering, but looks up at me. "Excuse me?" She asks. "Your boyfriend." I answer. She looks away. "No one important.... anymore." I sit at the edge of the bed. "That is not what I asked." I tell her, growing irritated. "Jorge" she answers. "Jorge Gabriel Oscuridad- Luiz"
I walk out of the cell and close the door. "Wait, sir!" She scrambles to get up. I turn in time to see her fall. "Damn it Saph!" I yell. I go in and look down at her. "You can't be doing that." I say softly. I carefully help her up and back to the bed. I unlock her ankle because I don't really want her to take anymore tumbles. "You'll probably bruise now.." I sigh.
She looks at me questioningly, then irritated. " well I'm sorry that I ruined my 'perfect' body." She huffs. "That's-" I am cut off with her saying. "Save it." She folds her arms. "Now wait just a minute!" I scowl. "That's not what I meant at all, I only said it because I care about your well being." I answer. "But back at the auction-" I look at her. "What you heard was me trying to make sure that you weren't harmed. I don't know why.... but for some reason.... I like you." I tell her. "-And not in a sexual or romantic way... at the moment... but I knew that you were special and I couldn't let you go to some pervert."
She's looking away from me. "Look... I know you own me." She says after a few minutes. "I know you paid a lot to do so... and the one thing that I don't know... is why you still feel the need to lie to me. If it's so I'll give myself to you... fine, take me... if it's because you want to... please don't." She says quietly. "Because someone who cares for someone else's well being, and likes them... they don't treat the person the like the way you're treating me."
"Maybe that would be true in a different type of relationship." I answer. "-But because of the relationship that I want and the fact that it's new to you, you know nothing." I smile, and see her get angrier. "Here's one thing I do know then...." she answers me. "I hate you."
"Really?" I answer. "You haven't made that one clear at all." I laugh and she rolls her eyes at me. "Attitude Saphronia." I warn her. She turns away from me again and I sigh getting up. "Come on." I tell her. She must be starving by now, who knows how long she was at the auction house.
She doesn't move, and I sigh. "Saphronia, get up." She shakes her head no and curls into a ball. "I'm not playing around here, this is the last time I tell you." I demand.
She gets up and stands there.
"You'll feel better once we get you some food, yeah?" I say worriedly. "I don't want it..." she says quietly. "Saph- look." I turn to her and look in her eyes. "I don't want to be the bad guy here... whatever you may think of me... put it aside, at least for a little while. I know you're not wanting to eat, it's a lot of changes for you too fast. I understand that.... but you need to eat and I really don't want to force you, but I will."
She looks away from me crying. "You obviously don't understand then.... you haven't been ripped from your family. You haven't been bid on like cattle, wearing slutty outfits... just trying to survive in a world you don't belong in. So no matter how you want to put it Callum.... you are the bad guy... because you even participate in this shit you are."
Her words actually do sting, and it's my turn to look from her for a second to regain myself. "Sweetheart, don't use my name again unless I give you permission, now.... let's go get dinner. It's getting cold." I look back at her, and she's sat down again. I leave her in the cage, and close the door. She starts crying as I leave.
