Helpless {Zane x Reader}

~Chapter 5~

I trudged downstairs after I heard that Kawaii~Chan was no longer upset. Instead now she seems  happy. 

"Y/N!" She shouts happily. "There's going to be a huge party at a casino that they're opening on the island!!" 

"Really?" I ask, rubbing my eyes, hoping dark circles wouldn't show up after crying. After Zane went after her, I broke down. 

"Yes!!" She squeals. "I want to go!!"

"It's a masquerade," Lucinda says, holding out masks. "So we'd blend in."

I take a F/C mask and I look at it. 

"So we are going?" I ask warily. "This could be dangerous..." 

"The GF wouldn't go at a party like this." Melissa smiles. "It would scare the guests. Of course, there will be a few, but the less scary ones, I believe." 

"You don't need to wear a mask, Y/N," Aphmau says. "You aren't on the list of those wanted." 

"Lucky!" Kawaii~Chan wines. "I don't wanna wear a mask! But... it'll be safer..." 

"Okay," I smile weakly. "I'm going..." 

~That night~

 "Wow!"Lucinda breathes. 

"This is amazing!" Melissa says in awe.

It was amazing, and once we got inside, everyone had partners to dance with. I sorta stood to the side, watching them all dance. Aphmau with Aaron, Melissa with Lucinda, Kawaii~Chan with Zane. 

Suddenly, someone grabs my hand and pulls me into a dance with them. 

"Hey sugar girl," He says. "It's me again."

I gasp, pleasantly surprised. "Hi... um, I didn't catch your name..."

"I didn't throw it." He chuckles. "My name is Joshua." 

I giggle. "I'm Y/N." 

"That's a pretty name, Y/N." He smiles. 

"Thanks..." I smile back at him. 

"So, why are you here, all alone." He asks. "I was afraid I was going to have to steal you from someone or that you wouldn't come at all." 

"Well, I came with a group of friends..." I say, giggling. "They kinda dragged me into this, and then they got paired up with each other, leaving me as the odd one out." 

"Then, I'm glad I could help." He spins me.

"I'm glad you are one of the guards here." I say softly. "I was afraid I was going to be alone."

"Never fear, Joshua's here!" He jokes. 

I laugh again, and he joins in. 

"How can you be apart of the GF?" I ask, wishing I could take it back.

"Wh-What do you mean?" He asks.

"Well..." I pause, thinking over my choice of words. "I mean, why did you join the GF..?" 

"Oh, well..." He starts. 

"Y/N!" A voice calls out to me. 

I wince. Aphmau..?

"Oh, Addison..." I say nervously. 

"I, um, saw a guard um, is he dancing with you?" Aphmau asks as inconspicuous as she can, trying not to blow her cover.

"Yeah, its fine..." I smile nervously. "He offered me a dance, so I--" 

"Get away from her!" Aaron shouts, pulling Aphmau and me away from Joshua. I gasp out, and Joshua grabs my wrist.

"Hey, let her go!" Joshua shouts at Aaron. "I asked her to dance and she agreed!"

I grit my teeth and I try to hold back tears. "St-Stop! You guys are h-hurting me!" 

They both let me go, and I fall the the ground, whimpering, holding back sobs. Joshua rushes to me, and he picks me up.

"P-Put her down..." Aaron says shakily. 

It looks like he's afraid of losing his Ultimate side. 

"I-I'm fine, Joshua..." I say, and instead of him putting me down he only cradles me like a child. 

"No, I'm sorry.." He says, burying his face into my neck. I blush.

"Um, guys, it's time to go.." Melissa says, and she gasps at the sight of me in the hands of a GF member.

"Oh, these your friends..?" Joshua says, putting me down. 

"Lets go," Zane says, grabbing my wrist, pulling me away. We all walk out and I look back at Joshua, standing alone.

I remember that night, I just might regret that night for the rest of my days..

I'll never forget the first time I saw your face...
