Adrenaline started to course through Lena's veins as she silently approached Widowmaker. The sniper still hadn't noticed that she was sneaking up on her, she was looking through her scope down at the factory below. Tracer took a deep breath, and then jumped out of her hiding place.
"Nice to see you again." Tracer said aloud. She always said her introductions with confidence, but this time she could feel her voice quavering as she looked at the Talon agent before her. The sniper's head whipped to the side, and her now fixed visor came off of her golden eyes.
"Can't say I feel the same." Widowmaker replied cooly. Tracer brought her dual pistols out in front of her face and immediately started firing. Blue bullets streamed and whistled everywhere. Widowmaker held out her arm and aimed her grappling hook at a nearby balcony. Tracer zipped over the railing after her, and onto the ground below, firing more bullets as the sniper whizzed away. The assassin gained a new high ground and started firing her rifle back at the Overwatch agent. Tracer quickly zipped away from her line of fire and behind a wall, waiting for the bullets to stop coming. Lena waited impatiently, listening to the gunfire and seeing the bullets bounce and spur off the floor right beside her. She could hear her teammates fighting in the distance, Reinhardt charging and yelling, and the frequent exchange of bullets from both sides. Lena stayed in her hiding spot, still waiting until Widowmaker stopped shooting. As soon as it paused, she ducked out of her position and started firing back at the sniper.
Widowmaker cried out as the fast bullets flew up to her, and she ducked down below the railing. I hit her! Lena thought. She didn't know whether she should be happy or nervous about that.
Quickly, Widow held out her arm and grappled to a new position. Lena grunted as she fled from the fight once again.
"I've hit Widowmaker, but she's getting away!" Tracer said whilst clicking the microphone beside her cheek.
"Worry about her later, I need you to find the base point of this building. Find whatever they're working on and destroy it!" Winston replied to her through the com. Tracer stood there hesitantly, she knew she needed to go after Widow, but she couldn't disregard orders. "Copy that." Lena replied obediently. She zipped off towards the back stairwell of the building, and up to the top deck, scanning every inch of the abandoned factory from up above.
Boxes were stacked up high against walls, with shelves full of crates and tools of all kinds. There were old machines likely used for transporting and carrying goods, and big, complicated ones Lena didn't recognize. It was hard to tell exactly what this factory was previously used for, but everything was old, dusty and the smell was musty. Looking around, Lena spotted a sectioned off room with a door left slightly ajar.
"Bingo." She said to herself. Tracer leapt down towards the door and skidded in front of it to a halt. With her guns drawn at the ready, she lifted up her leg and kicked it open. Nothing. Just a hallway.
Tracer walked into the hall uneasily to find another door that opened up into what looked like an office area. Several desks and chairs had been moved around, and bookshelves and papers had been knocked over. It looked like a fight had gone on, though it was still unclear what exactly went down. She cautiously walked through the room, a gulp forming in her throat. What would Talon possibly be planning here of all places? Lena thought to herself.
As she stalked through the empty, abandoned offices, Tracer called through the voice com to her team.
"I'm in one of the back rooms. Nothing is here." she informed with slight confusion. Mercy called back with doubt in her voice, "There has to be something? Why else would they be stationed here?" Lena continued looking around but didn't see any signs of Talon soldiers, uniforms, weapons or anything. "Something doesn't feel right..." she said back. Tracer lowered her pistols for a moment as she walked back into the last office space.
There's nothing here! I should be going after Widowmaker! She thought angrily to herself. That's when she saw it... Laying on top of an overturned desk was a laptop, facing the doorway where Tracer had entered. On the screen, was the Talon logo, with the words written under it: Suprise.
Lena gasped out loud when she saw it, and quickly zipped out of the room. Panic swept through her entire body as she ran out of the back rooms and out into the factory, her feet clicking fast on the concrete ground below her. She tapped her microphone beside her mouth, panicked, calling to her team.
"We need to get out of here now!" Tracer yelled into the com.
"What? What's wrong?!" Winston exclaimed in response. She could hear rapid gunfire in the receiving calls she was getting and she started to get more scared by the second. She knew something was wrong, this was a trick. "We've been set up!" Tracer replied quickly.
She ducked into a corner, out of sight from any danger. "I saw a message from Talon on a laptop. This is a trap! We need to get out of here n-!"
Her warning didn't get through. The ground and the walls shook violently around her, and Lena ducked low, covering her head as a loud explosion went off above her. The gunfire stopped immediately and the British girl heard inaudible yelling in the distance. All at once, everything cane crashing down around her. That's when it happened: the bomb went off. They'd fallen right into Talon's trap.
