When Edd had returned to the outpost it had started to rain and a feeling of gloom hovered over his head.

How the hell would he tell Matt he lost their best friend?

While he walked closer to Matt's department this guilt ate at him for a moment. He hoped Matt wasn't there but alas there he was sitting on the ground in the front foyer taking a tire off of a vehicle.

Edd hesitantly moved closer to the ginger without him even noticing.

"...Matt..."

The ginger jumped at the sound of his voice and leaned back to look at Edd. "Oh Edd!" a light blush dusted his cheeks and he immediately stood up.

Matt was covered in oil and grime. He tried to fix himself a bit before actually facing Edd, "Uh sorry, I'm kinda filthy.." He then laughs nervously.

"It's fine." Edd's voice was quiet and emotionless. "Hm? Oh, no...I know that tone what happened Eddie?" Matt showed remorse for his dear friend.

Edd took a deep breath but stayed silent, a few tears fell from his bright green eyes, "Edd?!" Matt was more than worried. It had been a long time since he'd seen Edd cry; he's usually the strongest in the group.

"I lost Tom!" Edd yelled getting the attention of some other workers around them. The ginger was confused so he pulled Edd to a more private area to talk.

"What do you mean you lost Tom?"

Edd explained the situation in detail it took a few times for Matt to actually get the idea: Tom was missing and on the run.

"Obsidian Leader has been notified and I don't know what I'm gonna do Matt! What if this was planned from the beginning?! What if ...what if there's more that we don't know?" a panicked tone was etched into his voice, more tears falling.

Matt holds him by his shoulders, "Edd, I may not be the smartest but I'm pretty sure Tom, of all people, wouldn't do this on purpose he loves us! And I mean who can resist my gorgeous face~" He struck a flirtatious pose, somehow he looked even more manly with all the dirt on him.

"Maybe you're right...I'm overreacting aren't I?" he giggled a bit as a light shade of pink spread across his face.

Matt beamed that giggle was just too damn precious, "That's my Eddy."

Matt reached into his pocket and offered his dirty rag to him, "Wipe your face I hate seeing you like this."

"Oh geez thanks!" Edd took it and wiped his eyes, "Okay my eyes are starting to burn! I don't think that was a good idea!" Edd yelled covering his eyes.

"Fuck! Sorry Edd!" the tall man quickly gets permission and takes Edd to the infirmary.

His clothes were soaked and he had a bandage over his eye but besides that he was fine, "Matt it's okay really! You were just trying to be polite and I understand that it was a simple mistake." Matt was still freaking out in the chair next to him.

The doctor walked back into the room, "Yes it was a simple mistake. You have no idea how many times this happens in the week." she sighed and took the bandage off Edd's face.

"Nothing too serious," she turned around to get something from her bag. She pulled out an eye patch and placed it on his face.

"Come back in a few days and take this," she handed him some medication and escorted them both out.

"Have a good day you two," the door slammed behind them.

"Nice lady," Edd rolled his eyes. He couldn't help but notice that Matt was lowkey staring at him, "Oi, Matty-boi dinner and a movie first!"
