My usual ABBA morning alarm didn't wake me up this morning. Something felt wrong, very wrong. Instead of the lovely time that helped me to get through the day I was knocked awake by the putrid smell of antiseptic and drugs.I had to cover my eyes as the morning rays that I used to love so much partially blinded me.
That was when I realized it, white sheets, white ceiling. White walls, monitors going all beep in my ears, the ever so loved smell of disinfectant.
I was in a hospital.
I tried to move to the side but moving my muscles felt like a thousand needles had been stuck deep within.
Before I could cry out in pain, I noticed I wasn't alone in the room.
Beside me with his head on the hospital bed was a sleeping Anthony.
He was wearing the same thing he wore yesterday and he was snoring softly. He looked as messed up as I was if not even more. I groaned inaudibly and looked around the room.
It wasn't like any hospital room I've ever been in. It was kind of fancy and I couldn't help but admire it.
Recalling last night was kind 2of hard and the migraine I had wasn't helping me either.
One thing is for sure though, Chase McBride was there with me last night and that could only mean trouble, especially for Anthony.
What was I thinking about agreeing to go to a club?
Why didn't I just call it a night and slept over at Susan's?
So much for doing something fulfilling.
I looked over at Anthony and he was sleeping so peacefully. I kind of felt bad to wake him up so I just laid back down on the pillow and got lost in my thoughts whilst staring at the ceiling.
How did he know something had happened? And how did he find me?
There were so many questions running through my head but then I remembered that Susan was with me.
There was no trace if her in the room and I could only hope she was fine.
Just then the door opened and a nurse came through the door.
"Oh you're awake Mrs Ramirez'' she exclaimed with a smile on her face and I felt Anthony mumble something incoherently before lifting his head to face me. Our eyes met and I couldn't help but smile sheepishly at him.
I knew I was in trouble but the look of relief on his face was surprising.
"I'll just leave your morning breakfast here then and i'll be back to help you with anything else you need'' with that she left the room and I was left alone with him.
Was I to apologize right there and then? Or I was to act oblivious of the fact that I had passed out in front of a nightclub.
But instead he remained calm and walked towards the breakfast tray.
He placed the tea bag in the cup and poured the hot water on it. He then stirred it with a teaspoon and handed it to me with the saucer. He then started to smear jelly on the bread and asked me if i'd like a bit of peanut butter.
I refused politely and he smeared all the other slices with jelly.
Cautioning me to eat slowly, he took a seat back in his chair and started to scroll through his phone.
I was kind of surprised and scared at the same time. I was expecting him to yell at me, question my principles, scold me like a little girl but nothing.
