Lauren's POV
I couldn't help the smile that stayed on my face all night. As we sat at the cafe we seemed to lose track of time. It felt like no time had passed before it was 9 o'clock and the cafe started to close. We stood up from the table we were at and began walking outside. He looked over at me with a sweet smile. His hands were in his pockets as he walked me to my car.
Tyler- "So you know earlier how you said you're never alone?" He said as he looked over at me. His eyes looked so kind and gentle with every word that left his mouth.
Tyler- "I was just wondering what that's like? You just are more introverted and to yourself from what I've seen. And I only know what its like to be an only child. So I guess I'm just curious if that's hard?"
I was curious what made him ask the question but I liked that he was willing to. It just showed again that he had interest in learning more about me.
Lauren- "Mmm it can be hard sometimes. I guess there's just a lot of people around all the time, and I don't mind being quiet cause it's just who I am. But sometimes I don't feel heard because there's a lot of other voices who are more prominent than mine... What makes you ask?"
He shrugged his shoulders slightly while we stopped next to the driver's side door of my car.
Tyler- "I guess I just think that I feel the need to fight for love more when I'm surrounded by too few people but also feel overwhelmed with too many. I'm pretty used to being alone and I'm not a fan of it. So when I'm around a lot of people it's so opposite of my normal life that I don't know how to act."
Lauren- "It sounds kind of nice to be alone sometimes."
He smiled down at the ground as he leaned his shoulder against my car.
Tyler- "Well if you ever want to get away from it all, you can always call me. I've found my own amazing quiet places to be alone. I don't mind sharing with you." He said while looking up at me with a sweet smile. "And if you ever need to feel heard, I'm here to listen. I'm very good at giving attention to people who need it." His smirk grew a little wider.
Lauren- "I might just take you up on that. You'll have to show me these amazing places after class one day. I'd love to be in on it." I said as my smile widened. This is the happiest I have been in a long time. I haven't felt a single bit of the pain this whole afternoon.
Tyler- "Thank you for today Lauren. I actually really needed a day like this. With someone like you." He said softly and genuinely. There is so much pain in him, I know that there is. I just don't know what that pain is exactly. He said earlier he was lonely but I don't know how a guy like him could be lonely. He is so kind and funny. He's also just sweet and down to earth which isn't easy to find.
I looked up at his eyes again to respond, halting my own thoughts.
Lauren- "Thank you for inviting me, I had a lot of fun today. And I actually really needed today too, without even knowing it."
He smiled and bit his lip while looking down. His hands stayed in his pockets as I took in how he looked. He was really cute, I kept stopping that thought but I can't stop it from overflowing when I take in his features. He looked back up at me once more.
Tyler- "So I'll see you in class in a couple days right? I mean now that you just spent 6 hours with me, you're required to sit next to me and pass notes like the first day." He laughed lightly when he saw my smile form wider than before.
Lauren- "I'll be there ready to pass notes like a couple of little kids."
Tyler- "Alright good, well I will see you then. Drive safe okay? Can you text me when you make it back home so I know you're good?"
Lauren- "Yeah of course!" I said biting the insides of my cheeks to stop myself from smiling more.
He was so sweet. Everything about him oozed kindness and thoughtfulness that I hadn't experienced so instantly from a person before. I hugged him as we said goodbye. He opened my door as I got in. He waited till I was settled, said goodbye with a gentle smile, and shut the door for me.
I could feel my face turn slightly red, not used to the kindness he showed me. As I backed out of the parking lot I smiled and thought of him my whole drive home. It took me about 15 minutes to get back to my house and when I did I pulled out my phone to text Tyler.
L: Hey! I made it back(:
T: I'm glad you're back safe! I had an amazing time today, if you're down we should hang out again soon(:
That was just the start of what turned into all night of texting. He's so differet from what I'm used to. And I love that.
