Tyler's POV
She's quiet. To herself. Kind of like me.
We were driving around town while she sat in the passenger seat showing me different places that she liked to go.
I hated it here. Honestly, I'm just in complete desperation for someone who might care about me and show some interest in who I am. I faked to her like I enjoyed this place but really I just came here for a fresh start. If she only knew the real me she would avoid me like everyone else in this town seems to.
I'm a person with a lot of hurts. I've been used and thrown away more times than I can count. People treat me like I'm temporary, and not worth more than whatever they need from me. It's typical. I know how people work.
And I know how this girl is probably going to work too. She's going to seem interested, and maybe she will be for a while. Then she will find out more about me and leave like every other person has. Or she will just take what she needs and run.
But for some reason when I saw her I wanted to have some hope she was different. Some hope that she wouldn't be that. So I let myself go along with today. Because I need someone, just one friend.
I'm tired of being lonely. I don't even have a family. They're the reason I'm here alone in a new city. They have caused pain I'll probably never tell anyone.
I snapped out of my selfish thought when I heard this seemingly shy girl speak up and start to ask me questions.
Lauren- "So how old are you anyways.. guy from class I seem to trust enough to just hang out with?" She asked as she laughed.
Tyler- "I am 21," I said with a slight laugh as I continued, "and you?" My tone showed no sign of what I was previously thinking. I faked confidence and happiness both extremely well.
Lauren- "I'm 19."
Tyler- "And did you just start taking classes?"
Lauren- "Yeah! This is my first semester actually!"
I smiled over at her taking in as many features I could with the quick glance. She was cute, everything about her has such an adorable essence. I looked away quickly when she looked over at me. I didn't want to be caught staring at some girl I barely knew. She seemed to not notice as she kept pointing out different places.
She pointed to a coffee shop off to the left.
Lauren- "Oh and that's a great coffee shop! I don't go there very often but it's so good the couple times I've gone there!"
I laughed slightly to myself.
Tyler- "I actually know that place, I just got a job there to help pay for school!"
Lauren- "You did! That's awesome! Do you like it?"
Tyler- "I do like it! Everyone there is super nice and the people who come in are always friendly. But I do know how it could be better." Letting an ooze of confidence drip from my tone.
Lauren- "And what's that?" She said as she looked over at me driving.
Tyler- "I mean work is good now but if this really cool girl from my history class decided to stop by when I worked, I would just be so much happier." I said smirking in her direction.
She smiled widely.
Lauren- "Is that so?"
Tyler- "It is, so who knows maybe she will stop by tomorrow at 3:30." I said smiling while looking straight ahead at the road.
Lauren- "Maybe she will... at 3:45." Letting our a goofy laugh knowing she was trying to mess with me.
Tyler- "Wow 3:45 sounds amazing to me. I guess I'll see her then right?"
Lauren's POV
He was really charming without trying. I don't think he's meaning to even be that way, but he is. We started heading back to the college parking lot so he could drop me off at my car. We found a lot of random things we had in common and he told me some funny stories of things that have happened in college classes he's been in.
We started approaching the campus parking lot and he drove me up next to my car. He was fun and I was excited to see him again tomorrow. I was about to get out of his car and before I did he stopped me by speaking up.
Tyler- "Lauren" he said sweetly and put his hand softly on my arm. "Can I get your number? You know if we're friends and all I figured I'd need that" he said with a cute smirk on his face.
Lauren- "Of course" I said smiling back as I grabbed his phone and put in my number. He smiled at me as I handed his phone back and go out of the car. We said our goodbyes and he waved with a soft smile. He waited till I got in my car safely then drove away. I smiled stupidly to myself as I bought about him.
He's so cute.
I got home and had dinner and spent a while with my family. As the night got later and I headed up to my room I felt my phone buzz. A number I didn't have texted me and I hoped it was him.
I opened the text and read it with a wide smile.
"Hey Lauren, it's Ty(: I just wanted to say I had an amazing day today and I really appreciate you showing me around. Soooo see you tomorrow? I look forward to 3:45"
He's sweet, he seems different.
