Only 2 more minutes and school's over... Forever...

It's kinda weird to think about, not being in school anymore. But who cares! Finally I can do what I want without worrying about tomorrow's homework!

1 more minute...

I look over to my best friend Cassie from across the classroom. We exchange smiles. I suddenly feel guilt building up inside me. I still haven't told her that I'm going off to spend a year in LA.

30 more seconds...

I wish we could pull a high school musical moment. As the clock ticks away I chant to myself.
"Summer, summer, summer..." I giggle silently. High school was nothing like it showed in the movies.

*RING*

We all jolt out of our desks. I instantly run up to Cassie and scream in her ear.

"What time is it?!"

"Summertime!!"

"Schools out! Scream and shout!" We squeal together, grabbing each other hands and having a small celebratory jump fest.

"We're such nerds." I tell her.

"That's probably why we've never had boyfriends..." We both laugh hysterically at the thought of either of us seeming even mildly approachable to the male species.

"So what are you're plans this summer?" She asks "Going anywhere?"

"I don't think so..." I lied. I hate lying to my best friend but I don't think that school is the right place to tell her. "How about you?"

"Well maybe I'll take a trip to a small town, meet a nice boy and fall in love..." She exclaims, wrapping her arms around herself and swaying side to side.

"And maybe I'll walk on the sun." I add sarcastically. There's an equal chance of either of those happening.

We arrive at our lockers, and I fiddle with my combination a bit.

12
17
06

I find my combination ironic. The first number being 12, is my grade. The second number 17, happens to be my age, and 6 is just my lucky number.

"Goodbye old pal... I'm going to miss you." I whisper into my locker as I empty it's contents into my backpack. I look to the spot where I engraved my initials, clearly reading
I.M.

I quickly take out my geometry set, grabbing the compass and adding the year.
I.M. 2014

"Can I borrow that?" Cassie asks. She had also written her initials in her locker and had yet to add the year. I hand her the device and watch as she engraves the numbers. "Thanks." She smiles, hanging back the tool.

"Our names shall live on in this school... FOREVER!!!" I shout over dramatically, drawing more attention than intended. We both laugh off the awkwardness as I return the compass to its rightful place. We take one last look at our lockers, putting up 3 fingers and whistle the hunger games mocking jay tones.

"Good luck to you fellow citizen!" I pat my locker. Chuckling a bit, I turn around and bump into someone. No. It wasn't just someone. It was Blake.
Black Waters.

"Watch where your waking Matthews!" He says. Matthews is my last name. My first name is Isabelle but everyone calls me Izzy.

"Sorry." I say as I roll my eyes.

"Woah! No need for the attitude Matthews!" He remarks. Wow this guy is a douche bag. "So wanna go out sometime."

"What?..." I ask. Partially because I don't know what was going on, and partially because I can't believe my ears.

"I said..." He clears his throat, "DO YOU WANT TO GO OUT SOMETIME?!" He yells unnecessarily loudly.

"Uhh..." I begin, " Well you see... The thing is..." I find myself at a loss for words. I want to say no because he's a total asshole, but then again he is fairly attractive. Okay, he's really attractive, but I'm not going to say that. "Uhhhhh... myeehhh." I begin to back away slowly before turning around and breaking into a full on sprint down the hall. Good thing this was the last time I'll ever have to see him.

When I finally arrive at the doors I turn to see Cassie running up being me.

"What was that?!" She asks between laughs.

"The highest level performance by you're truly!" I credit myself, placing my hands under my chin.

"Top notch." She gives me a thumbs up. We leisurely exit the school together, for the last time ever might I add.

"So what should we do now?" Cassie pushes her hair behind her ear and looks at me.

"We could go to my house and film a 'YES! FINALLY!! NO MORE SCHOOL!!!' Video for my channel if you want?"

"Sure!" She replies. I have a channel on YouTube called Izzydabae, and I've actually managed to get over 500,000 subscribers. Its literally the stupidest name ever, but it's too late to change it now.

"I can't believe you went 4 years and no one found out about your channel." Cassie states in disbelief.

"Got lucky I guess?" I shrug. The only people other than my parents that I've told about my channel to, are Cassie and my other best friend Jack.
Thatsojack.

I used to live in Connecticut up until I was 9 years old. I was born on January 13,1997 which is also coincidentally Jacks birthday as well. We were next door neighbours and since our moms were friends we ended up becoming extremely close. We used to do everything together like riding bikes, playing game boys, and looking for bugs to scare our moms with. Maybe that's why I'm such a tomboy.

One day my mom received a job interview, which she nailed, and we ended up having to move to LA. Jack and I visited each other as often as we could until my mom got a promotion and we had to move again, but this time we had to go all the way to Toronto. We always managed to stay in touch. We would text and Skype but it's not the same as seeing him in person. Just the thought that I'm finally gonna get to reunite with Jack again makes me so happy! I have to tell Cassie...

"So, uh, Cassie... I've been meaning to tell you..." Her phone rings and I pause for her to answer it.

"One sec." She holds up a finger to me. I take advantage of the time to try and think of what to say to her. She clicks the lock button and replaces her phone back in her pocket as we approach my house.

"Now what were you gonna say?" She tilts her head and shoots me a stunning smile.

"I... I'm... Going to..." I stutter. She look so happy. I can't bring myself to ruin her mood, but I also can't keep this from her any longer. "I'm going to... Uh... Go get my camera to film our video." I chicken out. I run upstairs to my room and come back down with my equipment.

"Ready?" I set up the tripod.

"Ready!" She nods. I hit record and off we go.

*20 minutes later*

"That's probably enough footage. Just let me do my outro." I say goodbye to the camera, stand up and do a little twirl like I always do at the end of my videos. I can't help the excited laugh that escapes me as I inch forward and cover the camera with my hand.

It's finally summer.
