I rush out of the house. I'm late. That's it, I'm going to get fired, I would have been on time if my puppy hadn't decided to chew my work shoes, if I had remembered to do my washing last night, meaning I had to quickly wash them, then of course my dryer had decided to s*** itself, meaning I had to go next door to ask them if I could use their dryer, in my pj's may I remind you, and my lovely puppy decided to hide my brush, then I spilt my coffee all over the bench, having to clean it up before my puppy started "helping". Oh And when my washing was finished my lovely neighbour decided starting a conversation was a good idea, and let me tell you. That old woman will not take no for an answer.
So with a freshly made coffee and a slice of toast in my mouth I rush to my car and pull into the street-that is complete packed with cars. Two words. Car crash.
A frustrated scream escapes. "F&$*$+%$*$& I hate you all"
I take the first exit from the street and pull out the GPS and find a quicker root.
Except for the fact that ALL the traffic light liked the colour red so much they just wanted to share it with me. Aka all the lights decided to turn red as I approached. Yep. F my life.
As I walk into the back entrance to the pub I work at I look at the clock and see I'm late by half an hour I walk to the front counter where it's and assortment of greys, oh did I say how I can only see in the grey scale? It's ok it's not a disorder or anything, it happens to almost everyone, well until you find your soulmate, I've been told that when you look into the eyes of your soulmate you'll see all the colours of the rainbow, whatever that is, some are lucky enough to find their soulmates at a young age so they grow up with colour, other though might never find them. I have yet to find mine. My mum found her soulmate at a soulmate gathering, where basically a whole lot of un-mates people come and see if they can find their soulmates, my parents found each other there and had me like four mouths after. Disturbing I know.
"Anna, there you are" my friends Rhee says walking to me "I've been covering for you so if the boss asked you if you feel better or something, just play along"
I throw a confused look at him but nod my head and start taking orders and making drinks.
"Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me!" A high pitched annoying woman screams at me
"Yes ma'm?"
"Finally, I'll take a martini"
"Coming right up"
As I start making it in front of her she starts talking nonstop to one of her friends using her hands a lot, nearly hitting me several times, just as I'm about to poor it into her glass she spreads her arm so far that it hits the drink, spilling it all over me. She wipes her head around to look at me, and sees the mess she made and scoffs. Scoffs, and says "honey I think you need a new profession"
I stare at her for a second sigh through my nose and ask her if she still want the martini.
She laughs "I think I'll go somewhere else for my drinks, somewhere where they actually know how to make a simple martini!"
I smile at her and say "I hope you have a wonderful night"
I go to the back and wash off as much of the martini as I can.
"Excuse me?"
I turn around "coming"
I get out to the bar and grab a cup and start drying it without looking to the person "and what will it be?" I say turning my back to the customer getting ready to grab what I need
"Long Island ice tea"
"Coming up"
Setting up everything and swiftly making the drink up for the man. At least this guy isn't trying to knock the drink out of my hand every few seconds.
"There you go, sir" I say sliding the glass to him. I finally look up to his eyes. And freeze his eyes aren't grey or black or any colour I've ever seen, I-i think they're a, a green bright green at that. My eyes widen as I look around and-and I can see an assortment of different colours, colours I don't know the name of and some I think I might, a sound like a sob mixed with a laugh escapes me, I look back to the man who made this possible, my-my soulmate. The one made for me, and the one I was made for. His beautiful green eyes pined to me, his face stuck in a state of awe, I had no doubt my face was the same.
"Anna" I blurt like an idiot "my names Anna"
"Luke"
"Luke" I repeat, oh, wow, I love that name
"Say my name again, please. I like the way it sounds from your mouth"
I laugh "whatever, Luke"
He laughs "uh, so" he says scratching the back of his neck, I bite my lip I can't help it! He's gorgeous! "So Anna" oh the way he says my name makes my toes curl, and goosebumps run up my arms "uh, you want to go for a drink?"
"Luke, I'm a bartender and I literally just made you a drink, so I think we technically already are" I laugh
