Bronwyn:

The birds were chirping obnoxiously when I woke up the next morning. I stretched my arms out wide and yawned, happy with how well rested I was.

When I stood up from my bed, I took in my appearance in the mirror. The sandy blonde waves that reached to the end of my ribcage had turned to a birds nest, tangled and useless. I sighed, deciding there was nothing I could do about it.

As I braided it messily, I peered at my strange coloured eyes. This may sound weird, but a lot of people knew me by my eyes. 'Winnie Scottsborough, the nice girl with the sad grey eyes', they'd say. And I don't blame them. My eyes were the precise colour of a dismal rainy day. I didn't particularly like the comparison, however.

Once I was finished, I padded down the hallway to Jax's room. But when I reached his bed, I was met with horror. He was gone.

"Hannah! Where 's Jax? Jax?!" Instant panic set in as I searched frantically around the room for my little brother.

Hannah came sprinting in from her bedroom. "What's the fuss about?"

I tried to explain what was happening, but nothing sensible was coming out of my mouth. Suddenly, I heard laughter coming from the kitchen.

I raced into the room to find none other than Niall Horan at the stove making eggs, and holding my Jax in one arm. "Morning, Win," Niall turned around and smiled cheekily as he hoisted my little brother higher on his hip.

"Morning, Win," Jax mimicked the blonde haired boy.

Hannah ran in just as I did, and groaned when she saw the scene. "You again? I'm going back to bed."

I glared furiously at him, but he just kept smiling at me. "Want any breakfast?"

"How did you even get in here?" I seethed, ignoring his question.

"I have my ways," he winked, turning the stove off and putting the eggs on three plates.

"Did anyone ever tell you not to steal somebody's baby brother?" I scowled at the plate he set in front of me.

"Now, I didn't steal him," he defended. "He was crying, and nobody was awake."

I looked at the food suspiciously. "How do I know these eggs won't kill me?" Jax was squirming happily in Niall's lap, who was sat across from me.

He rolled his eyes at me. "Again with the rubbish questions? Just eat it, I promise they're good."

He popped a spoonful into Jax's mouth, and a few-toothed smile appeared on the younger boy as he chewed. "Yay! Good!" Jax cheered, earning me a knowing look from Niall.

"See? Not poisonous, I swear."

I frowned, and picked up the forkful of eggs, and carefully popped it into my mouth. I chewed warily, watching Niall as I swallowed. And one bite became another. A dazzling smile graced his face as he noticed I was now practically inhaling the food he'd prepared.

"Not bad, eh, Pooh?" he joked. "Get it? 'Cause you're Winnie the Pooh?" I felt his foot nudge mine under the table. I stomped on his toe, earning a grunt of pain from his mouth.

I looked up angrily at him. "Call me Pooh again and I'll rip your balls off," I grumbled around a mouthful.

"Fiesty, I like it," he winked, his blue eyes sparkling, and began to eat.

By around noon, Hannah was in her room with a friend, Jax was put down for a nap, and Niall was on his fifth meal of the day. I watched in slight disgust as he devoured yet another ham sandwich practically in one bite.
