"Wake up, Win," A voice reached my ears, his cool breath tickling my neck.
I groaned, snuggling into the pillow more. "Go away," I groaned. This sure was a comfortable pillow...that could breathe...
My eyes flew open and fixated on the shoulder my head was resting on, and then up to the crystal blue eyes that shone dangerously close to my own. "Holy shit, what time is it?" I exclaimed frantically, shooting up to a sitting position on the couch.
Surveying the light in the room, I came to the realisation that it was early morning, seven at the latest. I heard Niall's quiet laughter from beside me. "Good morning to you too," he mumbled.
"I was supposed to be home last night! What about Hannah and Jax? Who's going to feed them? Who's--"
I was cut off by his hand slapping over my mouth. "I called last night and said you'd stay over. Tilly's there now. Figured you needed your beauty rest," he explained, smiling.
But I wasn't really listening; I was too focused on the way his warm hand still covered my lips, and the look in his eyes told me he was feeling the same way. His hand left my mouth, and brushed a strand of hair behind my ear.
Shaking my head to clear my thoughts, I realised I hadn't responded to what he had said. "O-oh. Well," I stammered, looking away from his face, so the drowning feeling would go away. "Good?" I finished with a sigh.
I could still feel his gaze on my skin, and I chose to look back up at him briefly. He was grinning at me in such a way that made my insides melt. "What's on my face this time?" I joked, poking his cheek with my finger.
He shook his head. "Nothing, I'm just remembering something," he laughed a little, and shifted a little closer to me. My face turned an unpleasant shade of red at his sudden closeness. I looked down at my hands as he continued to speak. "I remember more and more every day. Just little things mostly, like the way you'd wear your hair, or how your nose would scrunch up when you were thinking. But it still means a hell of a lot to me," he finished.
He was truly amazing. I couldn't wrap my mind around how incredibly fortunate I was to have somebody like Niall in my life. He scooted even closer, throwing an arm over my shoulder. I giggled nervously, the warmth of his body radiating into mine. "You're weird," I decided to say, since no other words would come out.
He rolled his eyes. "Oh, thanks Win."
I nudged his leg with mine playfully. "You know what I'm trying to say."
He looked over at me again, and my heart fluttered happily against my chest. It's the strangest thing, what his eyes did to me. "What are you thinking about?" he murmured softly, his eyes mesmerizing me, seizing my thoughts.
I was too wrapped up in the way his gaze seemed to sear into my own. "You," I whispered dreamily before I could stop myself. I slapped a hand over my eyes, my face burning white hot from embarrassment. "I-I, mean...um, that's not what I meant."
I peeked out from between my fingers at his face. He was grinning at me, his eyes sparkling with happiness. "Sorry," I mumbled from behind my hand.
He furrowed his brow. "What have you got to be sorry about?"
I shook my head, running a hand through my hair. "Nothing, I'm just so strange. I wonder sometimes how you ever put up with me," I laughed, mumbling through my hands.
He gently removed them from my face, intertwining his fingers with mine. "You're not strange, Winnie," he insisted, bringing his face closer to mine to make sure I was really listening. "You're anything but."
