A Day Out

Sasha's P.O.V

Waking up to a shrieking Shemara was not an ideal morning especially if you were not looking forward to the rest of day. Matter of fact, I wonder how and when she changed my alarm to her shrieking. I swear that girl... I was inturrupted from my inner chatter when I heard my mum calling from downstairs. I reluctantly got out of bed and went ahead with my morning routine.

Walking into the kitchen, I was startled when it suddenly boomed with laughter as Kwame attempted and failed miserably to hit a high note on the pop song playing through the kitchen speakers.

"Wow I didn't know we adopted a screeching duck"

"Oh Sasha. You wound me. If you must know, I have been told I am an excellent singer."  Kwame said feigning a hurt expression.

"Who lied to you? You might want new friends." I rebutted as I reached for a piece of bacon.

"Ouch. I see the truth has made you bitter!"
I said while rubbing my sore head. What is wrong with people, what's up with hitting me everytime there's food involved?

"Take that back or there will be no breakfast for you." He said, sliding the bacon away from me.

"W-what? Oh come on, I was just simply telling the truth"

"What kind of apology is that huh?"

"Mum? Mumy... Ugh fine, I'm sorry" Mum just laughed upon hearing my call. Oh I see how it is. First I can't eat in peace because I told the truth. I thought the truth was key to everything? And now I have been abandoned by my own mother. How hurtful.

After the whole morning shenanigan, I felt much better and actually became excited for the day. Mum suggested we have guys day whiles she and Lovelyn took a girls day.

With a dozen quarrels done, Kwame and I finally settled on going go-cart riding. We arrived at the go-cart centre and immediately begun riding. I was having a blast. I felt as though Kwame was my brother -which he is now that he's mated to my sister- I felt so close to him since he arrived, something I never thought I would have. A big Brother. He's thought me so much in the little time I've known him. We even bicker like brothers.

About two hours of racing each, we got tired and decided to go grab something to eat at St. Louis, my favorite bar and grill. We were in the middle of splitting a poutine when I felt a presence behind me.

"You really are a slut, Aren't you? Already sticking your paws into a different guy." I froze at the sound of Xaiden's voice.

Kwame saw my distress and begun to take action but I stopped him, letting him know that I can handle the situation.

"Hello Xaiden, such polite manners. Always a pleasure to see you." I turned around to face him. He had a look of anger with jealousy behind it, but he quickly masked it.

"Where are my manners? This is Kwame, my brother in law. Kwame, this is Xaiden, my ex-mate." I introduced sarcastically, emphasizing on 'manners'. A quick sign of relief flashed in his eyes before it was masked with anger.

"I don't care. What are you doing here?"

"Eating, obviously. What does it look like?" I can't believe this idiot is my mate.

"Don't be smart with me. This is my territory." I saw the vein in his neck ready to pop as he said those words.

"Actually, this is Shemara's territory. You lost it remember?" Kwame snickered behind me almost chocking on his ribs at my reply.

"You, you little..." I quickly cut Xaiden off.

"Little what? I thought the one purpose of you rejecting me is so we don't interact with each other. Now if you would excuse me, I have ribs to finish and frankly they're getting cold" I dismissed, returning to my food.

Without a word, he retreated and exited the restaurant. Sighing, I apologized to Kwame and nodded as he suggested we get our food and go home. Xaiden sure knows how to ruin a perfectly good and sunny day.

"How about we play video games and watch movies when we get home? Which movies would you like to watch?" Kwame suggested as he started the car and out the parking lot.

"I'm rubbish at video games." I replied feeling a little better.

"I'll teach you"

"Alright. We can watch all the Shrek movies, Mulan and binge watch Doctor Who."

"Deal"

We arrived home in no time and went straight to watching Mulan, therefore skipping the video games. In that moment I felt quite grateful for Kwame. Even though I had tried to put an unaffected facade after the encounter with Xaiden, Kwame knew I wasn't okay. Instead of prying, he decided to comfort me. I really I'm going to miss him and Lovelyn when they leave.

A few episodes into Doctor Who, I fell asleep. I only slightly woke up when I felt Kwame carrying me to my bed after he relayed today's events to mum and Lovelyn.

Honestly, even though today didn't exactly go as planned due to a certain someone, I am still incredibly grateful for it because I managed to have fun and have a 'bros' day. Something I had never had before I met Kwame.
