Three days.

Three days until we get kicked out of this place and or be put in a foster home. Or at least that's what I'm thinking since Stacey will not tell me a single thing about us getting out of here. I'm actually quite happy about the idea of us not living here anymore.

I got up from my bed and walked over to my closet to choose out my clothes for today. I went along with a light pink t-shirt, with some white shorts and some black converse. It's too hot outside in this July weather to be wearing skinny jeans which would be something I would usually wear.

I look over to check the time on my phone after realizing that Stacey is still sleeping. And to my surprise it's quarter past one. I wouldn't blame her though, she did take an extra late shift last night.

"Stacey! Allison! Get down here now!" I heard an angry speaking devil shout up the stairs of this incredibly small building. I jog down the stairs and call out for Ms. Wright to see where she is. She replies back rather quickly and I follow her voice into the small living room.

"Stacey is still slee-" I was cut off once I saw Ms. Wright sitting on the couch with a man in a suit sitting on the couch across from her.

"She's sleeping? What kind of person would sleep this late in?" If only she knew but she's too busy being so stupid that my brain sometimes hurts whenever she talks.

"She does when she works late." I mumble below a whisper towards where nobody but myself could've heard me.

"Oh my! where are my manners?" Down the toilet with the rest of your life. "Mr. Kattestad this is Allison Ridgeway. Allison this is Mr. Kattestad." Satan leads me over to shake Mr. I-already-forgot-his-name and we shake hands as we both sit down on opposite couches.

"Nice to meet you Ms. Ridgeway." I cringe as the crusty middle-aged man called me by my last name. I never liked it when people call me by my last name. the only people allowed to do that are people who I trust enough to call them my best friend. So in this case, Stacey. "Hello nice to meet you too."

As I was about to stand back up to leave the room I was caught off guard and almost tripped when I noticed Ms. Wright had a handful of my shirt in her hand pulling me back down next to her.

"Where do you think you're going? The reason Mr. Kattestad's here is to discuss your plans for the foster home you and Stacey are going to get sent to" What? Foster home? They can't! but they will and I can't do anything about it. "So if I were you I would stay here and listen." As if I had a choice.

"Well basically Allison, can I call you that?" I give him a slow short nod. "well basically Allison you're seventeenth birthday is coming up and Stacey is only eighteen which means it's better to put you two in a foster home than to let you guys out in the streets of New York." I look down at my fingers as I begin to feel the tears forming in my eyes.

"Do you understand the situation Allison?" I slowly nod still looking down at my hands. I can't believe my biggest fears are unfolding right in front of me and I'm not doing or saying anything to prevent it all from happening. "Good. Well that's all I really needed to bring my presence for is to just inform you about the plans. I'll see you again on Allison's birthday Ms. Wright, and I'll see you too Allison. Good day." The stupid old crummy man spoke as he started gathering his papers and putting them in his briefcase and walked to the door with Ms. Wright leaving me alone with my thoughts. I got up and ran upstairs to my bedroom only to find Stacey finally waking up.

"Hey Alli- What's wrong you look like you've just seen a ghost? Did Ms. Wright not wear shoes again?" She said with a small chuckle. I too would chuckle along but with everything that's happening right now I'm in no mood to chuckle and all I did was give her a frown.

"Ok now what's really wrong? Come on, you're kinda scaring me a little." Her features softening as she spoke. "Ms. Wright and some old dude came and talked to me about putting us in a foster home." My voice cracking at the end as I finally let the tears flow down my cheeks and felt Stacey's arms wrap around me. We stood like this for a couple of minutes until she finally broke the silence.

"I've got an idea." she spoke as she walked towards the closet and pulled out all of our clothes, which weren't much. She started searching for something as I still stood in the same spot watching her as she rushed around the room. "What are you doing?" I finally got enough strength to ask her.

"Tell me what went on down there." She spoke as she ignored my question. "Well basically all he said was that we were going to be put in a foster home and that he'll see us again on my birthday." I told her what I mainly remembered. "Your birthday is in three days right?" I give her a quick nod as she hands me a suitcase that was full of my clothes and went out into the hallway towards Ms. Wrights office. I watched her all the way from our room as she carefully went in there without a single sound and came back out with a few papers in her hand.

"Here, this is your passport put it somewhere safe." I followed instructions and put it in the front pocket of my suitcase. I stood back up and see her doing the same only with her own suitcase.

"Where is your phone?" I pull my phone out of my back pocket and handed it to her and watched her as she tapped away on it. She sat down and stared at the screen from a couple of minutes as she scrolled up and down. "What are you doing?" I decide to finally question her. She looks up from my phone and gives me a big smile.

"We're running away from here tonight."
