Welcome Meghana_violet to the Blue Light Ultra Experience.

Neuro-link begins in three, two, one...

Waves crashed gently on the white sands of the beach. My black dress with violet and blue flowers blew in the breeze. For the third time, I checked the cell phone message.

This is where we're supposed to meet.

A sudden lack of sound caused me to turn. A figure dressed in ninja garb stepped from the shadow of a palm tree.

"Frost!" I shouted as the ninja master nods.

Then the familiar smell of popcorn wafted around us, and I knew that Jennifer Jonnes must be close. She was joined by Klara, Shreya, Ranger, and Joe.

"Sorry we're late," said Joe. "Shreya and I had some zombies to battle."

Shreya put her hands on her hips. "Maybe they'll listen to me about needles now."

Ranger held on to her cap as the wind picked up momentarily. "Zombies? Pfft. I fell out of a plane!"

"I had exams...and battled a swarm of monsters," said Klara.

"Klara wins," we all said.

Klara did a quick head count. "Looks like we all made it."

"What about MidNight?" I asked.

"He said he'd catch up later."

Ranger glanced up and down the beach. "Where's Drac? Did they go missing again?"

"Ahem."

We all jumped at the unexpected sound. Drac had appeared out of nowhere.

"Will you stop doing that?!" said Frost.

"Nope," said Drac.

"Guess we should get started," said Klara. I didn't like the idea of starting without MidNight. "It looks like we all—"

The sound of hoofbeats and someone shouting, "Ya!" stopped the conversation. A second later, a elegant yet deadly looking black horse arrived. A cowboy wearing a black duster jacket and black hat slipped off the horse. "Sorry, everyone," said MidNight. "Things have been rough."

"You made it and that's all that matters," said Ranger.

Klara cleared her throat. "Now that we're all here, we can get started." We all took seats on the warm sand the best we could. "It looks like we all survived the action Write to Rank challenge. We've faced robot fighters and demon cyborgs. And thanks to Drac, we even faced our worst fears..."

Drac gave a coy little shrug; you could tell he/she was smiling under that mask.

"...We've come out of it better and stronger," Klara continued, "things can only—"

"Enough with the speeches," said MidNight. "We came here to party."

Klara inhaled deeply in offense. "How...dare...you?" Klara drew a sword. "Enough of your insubordination! I challenge you!"

MidNight jumped to his feet and drew his sword. "I accept."

Joe and Jennifer groaned loudly. "Not this again."

Ranger quickly pulled her camera out as Klara and MidNight began to trust and parry. They threw insults—as well as daggers, sand, and anything else in reach—at each other.

"I totally won the last fight."

"Not even close."

"I am the better fighter."

"In your dreams!"

Sparks flew from their weapons and the sounds of clanging metal rang across the once quiet beach. Now and then the sounds of Ranger's camera taking pictures or the sound of popcorn being munched could be heard.

Finally, I had enough. I casted a spell on the sand. Long hands formed and lifted both Klara and MidNight into the air and upside down. "What are you doing?" I asked. "We're supposed to be friends."

"We are," said Klara.

"Yeah," said MidNight. "That's why we're only going to maim each other."

I shook my head in confusion and annoyance. The sand hands dropped the two.

"How about something to eat?"said Shreya.

"I got this," said Joe. He tapped a device cuffed to his ear. Soon a swarm of drones appeared and began setting up a fancy table filled with all sorts of yummy food and drink.

***

After only a few minutes of eating, I felt something was wrong. Something, some kind of danger, scratched at the back of my head. I couldn't put my finger on it. While the others laughed and talked, I stared out over the beach trying to figure out what could be bothering me so suddenly.

"This is a good cup of Joe, Joe," said Frost. "Is there more?"

"What's the magic word?" said Joe.

"Please?" Immediately, Frost's cup began to refill by itself. "How?"

"Nanotech."

"Guys?" I said, still looking over the beach. "Have any of you noticed that we're the only ones here?"

MidNight's eyes began to dart as he slowly reached for his pistols, and his hat. "Now that you mention it..."

Klara began to stand as she unfurled her crystal emboldened monster hunting whip. Ranger tightened her hoodie as the wind grew cooler. Joe sniffed the air, "Something is wrong." Frost added, "My ninja senses are tingling." Shreya sat down her cup and lowered her masquerade mask.

The ground began to rumble. The waves became choppy. The sky darkened. Lightning flashed. A waterspout the size and width of a building suddenly formed. Then it fell away and a giant creature with six tentacles loomed over the beach. "Foolish League of Wattpad Avengers..."

"Is that really the name we went with?" Joe asked.

"I don't think so," said Shreya.

The creature continued. "It is I, the Mighty Xigg-Xrack, king of the planet Alora. I used the Write to Rank contest to find the best combatants. I planted the notion in the minds of the action profile ambassadors. Ha, ha...ha. Before the summer solstice, I will take over Wattpad and force everyone to write stories about Brussels sprouts."

Jennifer let loose a horrified scream. "Not...Brussels sprouts!!!"

"And no one can stop me because I have trapped the best action writers on this surprisingly pleasant beach. Ah-ha-ha...ha!"

Klara blushed slightly. "Wow...are we really the best?"

"How should I know?" said Xigg-Xrack. "This is Meghana's fantasy."

"Oh."

"Now, prepare to perish you wordsmith warriors!"

"That's what you think?" said MidNight as we each finished grabbing our weapons. "We don't go down easily."

"Then bring it on."

The others charged full force towards the creature while I stayed behind for a moment. I glanced at the half-eaten food. "There goes my summer. So much for a relaxing day with my friends." In watched while MidNight began pumping the creature with bullets. "But, we are still together and having fun."

I straightened my flower crown and ran to join the others, laughing the whole time.
