A/N: this is a repost for a contest entry I submitted. I won first place with it on MariChat4LifeBrah 's contest! Anyway, this is a Voltron fanfic, I hope it's not too terrible...

Second person:

Lance had long awaited this day, having been eagerly checking the weather forecast multiple times throughout the week. There was going to be a thunderstorm, and rainy days are the best date days; the two of you love the rain. When the time finally arrived, he sent you a text before Friday classes at the Garrison.

hey cariño, date at my place later? ;)

You beamed as you opened the message, the action contrasting with this week's annoyed mood. You typed back a response right away. sure, I'll be there. love you <3

Classes dragged on after that. It was the end of a sluggish week; the only thing keeping you awake was the thought of the date you'd have later. You buried your head into the sleeves of the oversized sweatshirt you stole from him and let out a silent groan. Final class.

Time stumbled by and you were dismissed, heading over to his house when it started to drizzle. You grinned as you felt a droplet rush down the bridge of your nose, your footsteps tapping and soon splashing on the pavement. Continuing on your way, you welcomed the rain that soaked your skin. The storm washed away the impurities of the terrible week.

When you reached the door, you knocked rhythmically three times and were greeted by Lance.

"Hey, mi amor," he said sleepily, opening his arms for a hug.

"Hello," you replied with a smile. You walked into his embrace and returned it, despite being slightly wet with rainwater. You leaned up to peck his lips before nuzzling into his chest, and he placed his chin on your shoulder when you pulled away. "Tired?" you asked quietly.

You felt him nod his head as he hummed in verification, his hands trailing down your arms to grab your hands.

You lifted your head to look at him, "let's have a lazy day."

"Sounds great," he chuckled, dragging you into the living room. You followed him there and laughed as he fell back onto the couch, pulling you into his lap.

Laying down on top of him, you folded your arms over his chest and he wrapped his around your waist.

"How're things?" you inquired nonchalantly.

Lance still managed a signature smirk despite his clear lack of sleep. "They're pretty good, with you right here by my side and Keith finally gone," he informed, growing annoyed by the mention of his rival.

"Aw, what was so bad about him? Were you jealous?" you teased, sure to drag out "jealous" and to lean closer.

"Oh, come on! He was so out to get me!" he defended, suddenly not as sleepy. "He was so going to steal you from me!" He shifted to hold you more protectively.

You laughed at his demeanor, reassuring him with a sweet smile. "I wouldn't let that happen."

The rain was becoming heavier outside. The drops drummed on the window just behind the couch, creating an inconsistent melody that penetrated the following silence.

The first roll of the thunder snapped after a while and you flinched in surprise. Lance began caressing your hair, causing you to relax back into his figure in seconds. With a gentle smile, you leaned on one arm to reach out to his face, stroking his cheek with a delicate touch.

It was calm moments like these that you cherished most.

The two of you stared at each other lovingly, his oceanic gaze laced with admiration. You traced light patterns on his face while he continued to play with your hair. You could hear his heartbeat through the echo of the rain; it was the only sound accompanying the orchestra of the weather, along with soft breaths from you both.
