“I don’t like that one,” Bill said, sighing as Tom examined himself in a three sided mirror.

“You’ve said that about all of them,” Tom said, getting a bit aggravated with Bill.

“Well, none of them look good enough for you,” Bill said.

Tom glared at Bill, “Are you insinuating something?”

“Not a thing,” Bill said sarcastically.

Tom sighed, “Bill come on, it’s been almost seven months and you’re still not over this?”

Bill ignored Tom and stared at his boots.

“Oh not this again,” Tom said, rolling his eyes.

He placed his hands on Bill’s shoulders and crouched down to meet his line of sight.

“Bill, won’t you talk to me?” Tom asked sweetly.

Bill let out a heavy sigh and stood up, walking to a rack of suits. He pulled out a dark grey silk suit in Tom’s size and shoved it at him.

Tom stood there dumbly, staring at Bill as he walked out the door.

Bill took a breath of fresh air as he strolled down Hollywood Boulevard. He thought about the way he’d been acting towards Tom. He knew it wasn’t the way a brother should behave, but he almost couldn’t help feeling the way he did. He felt like his heart was being broken in two. He’d practically begged Tom a few times to leave Contessa. He knew that Tom felt like he loved Tessa, and she was a good friend, but not good for Tom. No one could make Tom feel the way Bill could, at least that’s what Bill told himself.

“Hey look, it’s Bill!” He heard suddenly behind him as he was interrupted from his thoughts.

The voice had been a girls, and Bill knew it must be a fan.

“Hey, Bill!” A different voice, a man’s voice, shouted from behind.

Oh no, paparazzi! Bill thought to himself.

He panicked and hastened to the nearest store, but before he could manage to get inside, someone roughly grabbed his arm. Bill turned angrily towards the person he pegged as rude, “Hey, let go-” Bill immediately recognized the familiar faces of Georg, Gustav and Georg’s wife Rachele. He smiled widely as he hugged all three of them, “I didn’t know you guys were in town!” Bill said happily.

“Tom didn’t tell you?” Gustav asked.

Bill thought for a moment, “He probably did. I hardly listen to anything he says these days.”

Gustav and Georg exchanged concerned glances.

“Well, the wedding is in a week, after all!” Said Rachele, completely oblivious to Bill’s mood.

“Bill, good to see you again,” said Georg, changing the subject, “You need to come back to Germany to visit every once in a while, you know!” he said, flashing Bill his perfect white smile and punching his shoulder playfully.

“How long has it been since I’ve been there?” Bill asked, clueless.

“Wasn’t the last time when we were on tour? Two years ago or so?” Gustav said, looking to Georg for confirmation.

“Yeah something like that, maybe closer to a year and a half.”

“No no, it’s only been a year,” said Rachele to Georg and Gustav, then turning to Bill she said, “You came for me and Georg’s wedding, remember?”

“Ah, yes that was it!” Said Bill, as the others nodded in agreement.

There was a small silence, and Bill watched as Gustav nodded at Georg, knowing instantly what that meant.

“Anyway, we came down here to find Tom. He’s in that store, right?” Georg asked Bill, pointing to the store he’d recently walked out of. Bill frowned and nodded.

“Alright, we’re gonna go find him,” Georg said, hastening Rachele along.

“I’ll stay with Bill,” Said Gustav, really only speaking to Rachele because Bill and Georg already knew what was going on.

“Bye for now, guys!” Said Rachele.

Bill waved lazily as he glared at Gustav.

As soon as Rachele and Georg were out of site, Gustav opened his mouth to speak, but not sooner than Bill did. “Gustav, no!” Bill scolded him, “I don’t want to talk about it!”

Bill walked towards his car, and of course, Gustav followed.

He got into the drivers seat, and Gustav climbed into the passengers seat before Bill could lock the car.

He sat silently and crossed his arms.

Gustav also sat silently. He knew it wouldn’t be long.

A few minutes passed.

Bill exhaled a breath he’d been holding, “Fine, you win!” He said, throwing his arms up into the air. “Rat,” Bill said under his breath.

Gustav laughed, “Bill, what’s the matter?”

Bill re-crossed his arms and turned towards Gustav, “You know how I feel about Tom.”

Gustav nodded, “Of course.”

Bill knew that Gustav was most understanding about he and Tom’s situation, even if he didn’t fully understand it.

“Well then I don’t need to explain it,” said Bill, “Of course this upsets me!”

Gustav rubbed Bill’s shoulder, “Bill, I know you love him. But you’ve got to let it go. I know you want what’s best for Tom. Tessa makes him happy! Isn’t that what you want?”

Bill nodded, “I do want Tom to be happy, but I don’t think Tessa can love him like I do.”

“Of course not! No one ever could,” said Gustav, “But Tom just wants a normal life. Well, as normal as it can get being a rockstar,” he chuckled, “But you know what I mean.”

Bill nodded again.

“Tom wants you to find someone too. How are you gonna do that if you’re all hooked on him? Tom doesn’t want love from Tessa. He wants happiness, and a normal life, and he’s found that with her. You don’t want to ruin that for him, do you?”

Bill opened his mouth to speak, but instead just shook his head.

Gustav smiled, “You know you’ll always be his number one,” he shoved Bill’s shoulder and laughed.

Bill smiled at his quirky friend. Though all of Gustav’s points were accurate, Bill still felt sad about everything. He decided he was probably just being selfish, but in the back of his mind he knew Tom’s decision really wasn’t for the best.
