You practically lived on the USS Enterprise and you were proud of it. You were more than excited when the captain told everyone they were going on a 5 year expedition in space. You worked in the science lab, and you couldn't wait to get your hands on new plants and animals that you might find on unexplored planets. You couldn't be on the field to personally get the specimens yourself because well...

You damaged your leg permanently because when Khan shot the Enterprise into Earth's orbit, you were severely injured and your leg will never work properly again. You can still walk thank god, but a small, slow limp will remain...

On the bright note! Your friend and Commander, Spock, volunteered to get the specimens for you when he went out on the field each time they landed on a new planet...

I guess you can call Spock 'friend'. He's never addressed you that title like he had with Kirk. You assumed you two were friends since he would smile slightly when you two joked around...well, when YOU joked around that is. Spock never joked around. He was like a blank, piece of paper, waiting for someone to write what his emotions should be for him.

One day, you were in the lab with him, since you two were considered lab partners when it came to discover new things. His back was turned to you as he slouched over a lab table, his bright blue shirt wrapping tightly around the visible muscles of his arms. You wore a lovely tight red shirt to symbolize your title as Lieutenant and you faced the other way, examining a plant the crew brought in for you to put in the book of 'discovered' things.

"Hm." you mumbled. You turn around. "Spock, could you please hand me that microscope?"

Spock nods and grabs the microscope that sat beside him, turning around to hand it to you. Your fingers momentarily touch and you stopped nervously. You happened to know about Vulcan Kisses, and you froze when he did the same.

"I'm so sorry. That was an accident." You stuttered quickly as you moved back around, fiddling around with the microscope to forget your (literally) touching moment.

It was quiet for a moment, and you can literally feel the stare of his dark eyes on the back of your head. You shyly turn a little to see you were right, Spock was still staring at you. You gulp.

"I'm sorry, Spock. I didn't mean to-!"

"I love you." he whispered.

Your eyes widen, the instant tint of red heats your ears and cheeks, your mouth forming a tiny 'O'. Spock looked away instantly, his face looking full of regret of his words and turns back to his specimen.

"I am sorry. That was inappropriate and uncalled for-!"

"Your telling the truth? You love me?" You whisper.

Spock turns back to you, with a glint of shock in his eyes at your words. He noticed how the shard of hope and doubt remained in your eyes, how beautiful he thought you looked when you look shocked. He always thought you were beautiful...

"Vulcan's cannot lie." He answers dully.

You smile happily back. He gave you a small smile as well. You didn't need to say anything back, he already knew.
