You curse to yourself when you trip onto the cold pavement, dropping the heavy books and overwhelming amount of homework in your hands. You set your bag down and begin to collect the scattered papers. Picking up your textbook, your eyes meet a familiar face.
"You're so clumsy." He chuckles and hands you a tidy stack of papers.
"Shut up. I can't even carry all the work these stupid teachers give us." You sigh, looking up at him.
"A 'thank you' would be appreciated." He said calmly. You reached your hands out to him like a child would to his mother. He grasped your fragile hands into his large ones and lifted your tiny figure off the concrete.
"Thank you, Namjoon." You said lightly.
"Do you wanna walk home with me?" Namjoon smiled at you, his dimples presenting themselves.
You nodded and smiled back. You both began walking the same path you've always taken together. It seemed nostalgic, almost. You and your "Big Brother" have known each other since 1st grade, and you've walked the same way home everyday since.
Approaching your house, Namjoon looked back at you.
"Do you want any help with all that work? I'm a pretty good study buddy." He asked expectantly.
"That'd be great, actually. It may take a while, though." You said, fumbling with the keys on your lanyard.
Namjoon bent down and placed his big hand onto your head and patted it.
"Don't worry about the time. I'll stay as long as you need me!" Another bright smile with dimples on display, and this time you can't hold back your own smile.
Opening the door, you both step inside to the well-known house. The familiar cool, thin air fills your lungs as you make your way towards the living room. You plop down on the worn rug and lay your homework on the mahogany coffee table.
After 3 minutes, Namjoon seats himself by you and sets down two glasses of water and some freshly cut fruit in front of you.
"Shall we?" He grabs your agenda and opens it, his face fills with shock.
"How do you have this much homework?" He glared at you with wide eyes. "And why is it all due tomorrow?"
"Well, the new season of-"
"What did I tell you about procrastinating?" His words were suddenly loud and took you off guard.
"I-I'm sorry-"
"I don't want apologies, Y/N!" His face flushed in an angry red.
Namjoon closed his eyes and spoke again in a softer voice.
"I can't have you fail this year." He made eye contact with you, and you could see the genuine concern in his dark eyes. "You have so much potential. I can't stand seeing all your talents and hard work go to waste."
"It's no big deal. I'll get it done. You shouldn't be this worried about me anyways."
And Namjoon lost it.
He stood up, face burning red.
"How could I not worry about you every second when I-"
Namjoon stopped his shaking voice, his eyes were glassy.
"I have to go." You could hear him desperately holding back the lump in his throat as he quickly collected his belongings and fled the scene.
